WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Washington's Liam Emson netted a goal in each half as the Colonials held off Davidson, 2-1, in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Saturday at Mount Vernon Athletic Fields.
For the Wildcats, it was their seventh setback by one goal this season as they fall to 2-9-2 overall and 1-4-0 in league play, while the Colonials move to 4-9-1 and 2-3-0.
At the 15:32 mark, Emson put away a set piece to give his club a 1-0 advantage. His first of two goals on the day was assisted by Fares Tello and Joshua Yurasita.
In the 55th minute, the Colonials were whistled for a foul in the box setting up Jamie DiLuzio's third successful penalty kick of the 2019 campaign to even the score, 1-1.
With just under 14 minutes to play, Emson was on the end of a long pass from Drini Redzepi, that he touched around Davidson's keeper and into the open net for the eventual winner.
Lucas Hauth led the Wildcats with three shots, including one on goal, while Sawyer Gaffney paced both keepers with a game-high three stops.
