DAVIDSON, N.C. — It is back to the road for the Davidson women's soccer team as they will face UMass and La Salle this Thursday and Sunday in two key Atlantic 10 games this week.
The Matchup ...
Looking to keep pace in the A-10 standings, the Wildcats (8-5-2, 3-2-1 A-10), who sit in a tie for fourth place, will travel to Amherst, Mass., to take on UMass (6-4-3, 3-2-1 A-10) Thursday at 3 p.m. before heading to Philadelphia, Pa., Sunday for a 1 p.m. game at La Salle (7-6-1, 3-3 A-10).
Coach Denton's Thoughts on the Upcoming Game ...
"This weekend we face another tough road trip when we take on both UMass and La Salle away from home. Both are very strong teams, especially when they are at home. This week will be a pivotal weekend in the A-10, prior to next weekend's final two matchups. The current league standings are so tight between the majority of the teams, and every game and point can make the difference. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead this weekend and we will be working towards good performances that can give us some valuable points on the road."
Scouting the Wildcats ...
•Davidson played just one game last week, falling Sunday to George Mason at home in overtime 1-0.
•The Wildcats had a penalty kick in the second half, but missed high in a chance to break up a scoreless game before Mason ended the game seven minutes into OT with the game-winner.
•The setback snapped the 'Cats' five-game home unbeaten streak, which was the longest since four straight wins at the end of 2011 season.
•Sabine Chandler has a team-best four goals to go with a team-high nine points, all career-highs.
•Cameron France (3 goals, 1 assist) and Michelle Manceaux (3 goals, 1 assist) have seven points each.
•Hailey Braemer, a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week winner, has six points on two goals and two assists.
•Gretchen Pearson has a team-best three assists.
