Wildcats fall to UNC Asheville

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's soccer team out-shot UNC Asheville 13-9 but ultimately took a 1-0 loss Thursday night at Alumni Stadium.
The Wildcats drop their first home match of the season and fall to 3-3-1 record. The loss marks the first time this season the 'Cats have been held scoreless.
Makayla Cihlar recorded the game-winner for the Bulldogs in the 59th minute, racing up the field to receive a pass from Kandis Calvin and send a shot over the arms of Grace Stair.
Davidson held Asheville to just two shots over the opening half, none of which were on target, while the 'Cats took eight shots of their own, three into the gloves of Bulldog goalkeeper London Phoenix.
The script flipped in the second half, with the Bulldogs outshooting the 'Cats 7-5 and limiting the home team to one shot on goal.
Stair made three saves for the Wildcats, while Phoenix made four for the Bulldogs. Shophia Whiddon led the 'Cats with three shots.
