Women's Track & Field Set to Compete at A-10 Outdoor Champs

FAIRFAX, Va. –The Davidson women's track and field team looks to build off its indoor championship success at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship Saturday and Sunday (May 5-6) at George Mason Stadium.
Outdoor At A Glance
After breaking six school records in the 2017 outdoor campaign, the bar was raised for this years 'Cats. This spring, Caroline Yarbrough reset a three-year-old 5,000-meter record, stopping the clock in 16:20.70 at the Raleigh Relays. Sarah Sears had a run at the new record at the Duke Invitational, but came up just short (16:21.59). Both sit comfortably in position to compete at the NCAA East Region Championship. Four Wildcats broke into the top 10 200m performers list as Katie Hines, Tori Long, Saidah Rahman and Grace Loehr all made strides out of the blocks this season.

2018 A-10 Indoor Championship Recap
Sarah Sears and Caroline Yarbrough accounted for 43 of the seventh place Wildcats 69.5 total points - the most for a Davidson indoor team in program history. Sears won a pair of events, the mile and 5k, and placed fourth in the 3k to earn Most Outstanding Track Performer of the Meet honors. Yarbrough also dazzled, placing second in both 5k and 3k. In her first A-10 Championship appearance, Eleni Daughters placed fifth in the 800m. Stephanie Hautamaa tied for third in the pole vault, while Makayla Binter took fourth in the pentathlon.
Title Defense
Caroline Yarbrough made her move with three laps to go in the 5k and pulled away from the field for her first A-10 outdoor title last year at Massachusetts. The Greensboro, N.C., native looks to defend her 5k crown at George Mason this weekend and add a fourth league title to her already impressive resumè.

Consistent Carly
Davidson javelin record holder Carly Peters has marked all of her throws this season within one meter of each other (44.33m-43.58m). The sophomore currently boasts the top 12 throws in program history. Peters will look to improve from her third place finish at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship.
