Cantorna Takes Silver in Pole Vault to Highlight Day One of A-10 Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. – Bella Cantorna placed second in the pole vault to highlight day one of competition for the Davidson women's track & field team at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championships from George Mason Stadium.
A sophomore from Houston, Texas, Cantorna, the school record holder in the event, cleared 3.73m (12-2.75") Saturday to put the first points on the board for the Wildcats.
Stefania Williams also added to Davidson's scoring, placing seventh in the long jump with a season-best of 5.82m (19-1.25"). In addition freshman Beatrice Wiley recorded a new personal record (5.28m | 17-4") in the event.
The first-year duo of Ansley Prescott and Ava Linnell will run in the finals of tomorrow's 1500m after qualifying with times of 4:32.52 and 4:33.91 in the preliminaries, respectively.
Fellow freshman Elle Collins also advanced to the finals in the 400m thanks to a lap of 1:01.92, which was seventh fastest.
In the hammer throw, sophomore Ashley Rangel recorded a new personal best with a mark of 46.74m.
Through four events of the heptathlon, Koryn Smith (2906 / 5th) and Hannah Casey (2902 / 7th) are just over 100 points outside the Top-3.
The final day of competition will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday morning with the women's 3000m steeplechase.
