PITTSBURGH, Pa. – In addition to Kellan Grady matching his season-high with 30 points, Head Coach Bob McKillop picked up his 550th career victory, in Davidson's 71-60 win at Duquesne on Saturday at the Palumbo Center.
Coming off a 28-point performance in the Wildcats home win over Fordham, Grady finished 8-of-14 from the floor, drilled three of his club's nine 3-pointers, and went 11-of-14 at the line.
As a team, Davidson (17-10, 12-4 A-10) finished 9-of-20 (.450) from long range and converted 18-of-22 free throws.
Peyton Aldridge recorded his fourth straight double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Jon Axel Gudmundsson grabbed 10 boards of his own to go with 8 points. Aldridge, Gudmundsson and Will Magarity (8) combined for 28 of the Wildcats' 31 rebounds.
After a back-and-forth start to the second half, Davidson broke open a 45-45 deadlock with a 14-4 spurt capped off by an Aldridge triple to grab control.
Mike Lewis led a pair of Dukes in double figures with 15 points.
Duquesne (15-14, 6-10 A-10), which started 6-of-7 from the floor, jumped out to a 10-0 advantage and stretched the margin to 23-12 at the 9:17 mark. The Wildcats responded with a 15-3 run to take their first lead, before going to the half up, 33-31.
Grady led all scorers at the break with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
Davidson shook off the Dukes' fast start limiting them to just 39.3 percent overall.
