CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Davidson men's tennis team sent eight players to the Queens Royals Rumble for men's tennis on Thursday and Friday, with four of the Wildcats claiming singles titles.
The quartet of Brooks Green (Flight C), Camden Mazzoni (Flight D), Matthew Rose (Flight E) and Ogden Timpson (Flight F) each won their respective flights host Queens players.
In the Flight C bracket, Green scored a pair of wins against Kasper Rolfsen and Yoan Roussinov (7-6(5), 7-5) of the Royals, with the first-round win coming after he dropped the first set in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 decision.
Mazzoni needed a third set to earn his first win against Eugenio Zanasi of Queens, 2-6, 7-5, 6-0, and then rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory in this second match on Friday against Jan Malmon, also of Queens.
The duo of Rose and Timpson had strong wins over the two days. Rose netted a 6-2, 6-4 first-day win and then came back to score a 6-4, 6-2 decision on the second day with both wins coming against Queens players. Timpson earned a win by default on Thursday and then gave up just one game to Lleyton Dacuba for an easy 6-1, 6-0 decision.
