RICHMOND, Va. —
Davidson had at least three players score in double figures for the eighth consecutive game and led for all but 47 seconds in holding on for a 68-65 Atlantic 10 road win at Richmond Sunday afternoon inside the Robins Center.

Justine Lyon led all scorers with 20 points, nailing her final three at the charity stripe to help seal the win. She went 7-of-8 from the line as Davidson was 20-of-25 overall as a team.

Mackenzie Latt drilled 9-of-20 shots for 18 points and Sarah Donovan came off the bench for 13 points, swishing home 7-of-8 at the free-throw line, and added six rebounds.

Saadia Timpton contributed seven points and a team-high eight rebounds, while first-year guard Katie Turner filled the box sheet with seven points to go with six rebounds and six assists, both tying season highs.

Davidson (7-11, 2-3 A-10) saw Richmond get to within one point, 65-64, with 1:18 left, but Lyon nail two free throws to push the 'Cats advantage back to three. The Spiders drew a shooting foul on their next possession, but only hit one of the free shots after committing a lane violation on the second to make it 67-65 and seven ticks left.

Lyon was again fouled and sank the second of two free throws for a 68-65 score. Richmond had one last chance, but its long three-point attempt hit the back of the iron as the horn sounded for the Wildcats' win.

The Spiders (7-11, 2-3 A-10) had four players score in double digits, led by Alex Parson's 18 points. Dee Hatcher scored 14 points, while Micaela Parson and Karleigh Wike had 10 points each.

Twice in the third quarter Davidson saw Richmond threaten to steal its lead as the Spiders got within one point at 41-40 and 45-44. Donovan and the Wildcats answered though, with the freshman scoring nine of the Wildcats' last 10 points of the quarter, including seven of them at the 15-foot line to take a 53-48 lead into the last quarter.

Davidson came out of the gates strong in the first quarter behind Timpton (6 points), Latt (6) and Lyon (7), who combined for 19 points. Timpton scored the first six Wildcat points of the game, while Lyon went off for seven straight late to help give the 'Cats a 21-10 lead.

The Wildcats maintained their advantage in the second quarter, going up 25-12 on a Sarah Donovan driving layup. The lead was cut to seven, 27-20, halfway through the quarter, but six straight points from Latt near the end of the quarter gave Davidson a 35-28 lead at the break.

Richmond had a 48-43 advantage on the glass, getting 20 offensive rebounds and scoring 19 second-chance points. Davidson had its ninth straight double-digit assist game with 13 dimes and its defense held the Spiders to just 30.1 percent shooting from the floor.

The Wildcats return home for a Wednesday A-10 game against George Washington, Jan. 17, at  7 p.m.
