DAVIDSON, N.C. —
Looking to send its seniors off with a winning weekend in their final career home games, Davidson plays host to VCU and Richmond this coming Friday and Sunday in a pair of key Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse games at Richardson Stadium.

The Opening Draw Control...
Davidson (5-6, 2-2 A-10) caps off its last two home games this year when it plays VCU (3-9, 1-3) Friday night at 6 p.m. and then takes on Richmond (5-6, 1-3) Sunday at 1 p.m. as part of Senior Day.

Prior to Sunday's game, the 'Cats will honor their six seniors Emma Sissman, Holly Thomas, Maddy Sivilli, Veronica Fiorino, Lucy Sexton and Jean Atkinson. The six Wildcats have helped lead the team to 34 wins during their four years, and were part of the 2013 team that went 7-0 during the regular season in the Big South to capture the program's first-ever league title.

The 'Cats are currently tied for third in the A-10 standings with La Salle. The top six teams this year advance to the A-10 Tournament, which is May 4-8 in Pittsburgh, Pa., where it will be hosted by Duquesne.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
Davidson and VCU are playing for the first time, as the Rams are in their first year of having women's lacrosse.

The series is eight games old vs. the Richmond Spiders dating back to 1998. Davidson trails 6-2 after falling in a tough overtime game a year ago at Richmond, 6-5. In a defensive battle, the Wildcats held a 5-3 lead after back-to-back scores from Christine Molinari and Arden Simone with a little less than 16 minutes left in the game. But the Spiders countered with three straight goals, including the game-tying score from Egizi with 1:38 left in regulation. Then with 3:10 on the clock in overtime, Bailey Zerr netted the game-winner off a pass from Egizi.

In addition, Sissman moved into 9th all-time in points (140) after her five-point weekend at GW and George Mason passing Sarah Hogan. The senior is already the all-time leader for draw controls, reaching the 200-mark in a victory at Kennesaw State, Feb. 20. She currently has 226 draw controls.

Fellow senior Holly Thomas is three caused turnovers away from reaching the top-10 all-time as she has 47 for her career.

Weekly Awards...
Sophomore goalkeeper Rose Woolson earned Davidson's first weekly lacrosse award this year from the Atlantic 10 after being named the league's defensive player of the week for games played from March 7-13. Full details by clicking here.

Woolson played a big part in helping the Wildcats to a pair of wins last week over Holy Cross (8-7) and High Point (12-7). The Baltimore, Md., native combined for 18 saves, 10 groundballs and one caused turnover in the two wins.

Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Despite getting two Nicole Pettiglio goals in the last 32 seconds, Davidson's comeback bid fell short as it lost 8-7 on the road to George Mason last Sunday.

Annie Brockett had tied to score up at 5-5 with 26:52 on the clock when she converted on a free-position shot.

It stayed tied until George Mason responded with three consecutive goals off the sticks of Alexa McGovern, Jordan Sdanowich and Chachi Kelehan starting at 12:01 on the clock and ending at the 4:09 mark.

Pettiglio had her second hat trick of the year, while she added two groundballs along with one draw control and a caused turnover. Emma Sissman, Jean Atkinson and Paige Farrar each scored single goals along with Brockett. Joining Molinari in the assist column was Lucy Sexton with one.

Last Time Out..
VCU — VCU women's lacrosse defeated St. Bonaventure 18-11 on Sunday afternoon to record the first Atlantic 10 Conference victory in program history. Sofia Emond led the Rams with a career-high five goals, including three unanswered scores to close out the first half.

Sky Hyatt added four scores and won five draws. She leads the team with 29 goals this season.

Last Time Out..
RICHMOND — It looked as though the Richmond women's lacrosse team would run away with a victory, but Duquesne came roaring back in a late second-half rally and scored in the first overtime period to take a 7-6 win.

Six different players scored for the Spiders, who move to 5-6 on the season and 1-3 in Atlantic 10 play.
