7-Game Homestand Continues, Davidson Hosts Lehigh Tuesday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Finishing out a busy stretch of three games in an eight-day span, Davidson looks to continue its recent hot streak by hosting Lehigh Tuesday evening in women's lacrosse inside Richardson Stadium.
The Opening Draw Control...
Davidson (3-2, 0-0 A-10) plays Lehigh (4-1) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night. The 'Cats' are currenlty on a seven-game homestand, which started Feb. 28 vs. Winthrop and is the longest since a six-game stretch at the beginning of the 2012 season. They are also riding a two-game win streak, both wins having come at home.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
The series dates back to 1995 and both teams have won two games each in the four matchups. Davidson's last win came in 2006 on the road, a 7-6 victory.
The last meeting overall occured in 2009 in Bethlehem, Pa., where the Wildcats dropped an 18-4 decision. They saw the Mountain Hawks turn a 3-2 lead in the first half into a 9-3 advantage at the break and never looked back. Haley Cook score three of Davidson's four goals in the defeat.
Record Watch...
Emma Sissman moved up to seventh all-time in career goals after a four-goal outing to opening the season against Virginia Tech. She currently has 110 goals and needs 11 more to pass Haley Cook (2007-10) for sixth. In addition, Sissman is five points (123) away from moving into the top-10 all-time, passing Erin Doherty who has 127.
The senior is already the all-time leader for draw controls, reaching the 200-mark in a victory at Kennesaw State, Feb. 20. She currently has 212 draw controls.
Fellow senior Holly Thomas is 13 caused turnovers away from reaching the top-10 all-time as she has 37 for her career.
Weekly Awards...
Sophomore goalkeeper Rose Woolson earned Davidson's first weekly lacrosse award this year from the Atlantic 10 after being named the league's defensive player of the week for games played from March 7-13. Full details by clicking here.
Woolson played a big part in helping the Wildcats to a pair of wins last week over Holy Cross (8-7) and High Point (12-7). The Baltimore, Md., native combined for 18 saves, 10 groundballs and one caused turnover in the two wins.
Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Senior Lucy Sexton scored a season-high four goals and Davidson won its second straight with an impressive 12-7 win over rival High Point last Friday evening.
The Wildcats halted their four-game losing streak in the series vs. the Panthers (3-3) by using a 4-0 run in the middle of the second half to break up a close game.
Christine Molinari recorded a season-high tying four points on a personal-best two goals and two assists to give her a team-high 16 points. Annie Brockett netted her first two goals of the year and added an assist.
Up by one after High Point's Samantha Brown made it 6-5, Davidson got goals from Sophia Sgroi, Sexton, Nicole Pettiglio and Brockett from 18:42 to the 10:27 mark in the second half to pull away for the win.
Davidson opened the game with a 3-0 lead and headed into halftime with a 4-3 advantage.
Between the pipes, Rose Woolson improved to 3-1 on the season by getting eight saves to go with four groundballs.

LEHIGH— The Lehigh women's lacrosse team jumped out to an 11-1 halftime lead and never looked back, on its way to a dominant 16-5 win over Liberty last Saturday afternoon. Lehigh scored six goals in the span of 7:45 midway through the first half to turn a 1-0 lead into an 8-0 advantage.
A pair of freshmen led the Lehigh offense as Courtney Henig posted a career-high five points (four goals, one assist) while Annie Pearson recorded her first-career point in the first half and finished the afternoon with four points (three goals, one assist). Freshman Jane Henderson also scored her first two career goals while Kaitlyn Quinn scored one. In total, the freshmen combined for 10 goals and two assists.
Final shots were 28-9 in favor of Lehigh while the Mountain Hawks held a 19-14 edge in groundballs and 12-10 advantage in draw controls. In goal, Taylor Tvedt finished with three saves, three groundballs and a caused turnover, already her sixth of the season.
