WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Washington shot 61.9 percent in the second half and used a late run to pull away from Davidson, 79-69, in Atlantic 10 men's basketball action Wednesday at the Charles E. Smith Center.

Despite the loss, Jack Gibbs paced three Wildcats in double figures with 25 points, while Brian Sullivan and Peyton Aldridge added 13 and 11, respectively.

After Davidson (12-8, 4-5 A-10) went ahead 52-51 on a pair Gibbs' free throws, George Washington retook the lead and eventually stretched the margin to 74-64, with 3:06 left. The Wildcats got to within 74-69 with 1:35 remaining, but was unable to inch closer.

Patricio Garino's 17 points led the Colonials, who shot 52.6 percent overall. Tyler Cavanaugh (16) and Yuta Watanabe (13) also went over the 10-point plateau for George Washington.

Davidson reeled off 11 unanswered, highlighted by three consecutive 3-pointers to go up, 25-22, but the Colonials responded with a 15-6 spurt before taking a 39-33 lead into the half.

George Washington (17-5, 6-3), which finished with a 39-28 advantage on the glass, had 40 points in the paint and held the Wildcats to 42.4 percent shooting.
