DAVIDSON, N.C. – Junior wide receiver Jaris Scott caught six passes for 190 yards, but Davidson fell to Jacksonville in Pioneer Football League action Saturday at Richardson Stadium, 35-17.

Scott finished the day with six catches for 190 yards, setting a new career-high. The Jacksonville, Fla., native's touchdown reception in the third was also a new career long as he dashed 73 yards to the end zone.

With the loss Davidson falls to 2-7 overall and 0-6 in the PFL, while with the win Jacksonville improves to 4-3 and 3-1 in conference play.

Trailing a touchdown entering the second quarter, Davidson put together an 11-play, 75-yard scoring drive capped off by a six-yard rushing touchdown from freshman running back Keylan Brown. Freshman quarterback Stockton McGuire put the 'Cats in scoring position with a pair of big runs, churning out rushes of 29 and 20 yards to set up his team in the red zone.

The Dolphins quickly retook the lead on the ensuing possession with a Rylan Wells quarterback keeper that resulted in the second Dolphin TD of the day. The Wildcats looked to answer, once again, as McGuire connected with Scott on a 51-yard reception to set up Davidson deep in Jacksonville territory. The 'Cats settled for a 35-yard field goal by junior Trevor Smith to cut into the lead, 14-10.

The Dolphins marched down the field on the opening possession of the second half and made it a two-score game, 21-10, but the 'Cats quickly responded. McGuire led the speedy Scott down the middle of the field for a 73-yard scoring catch.

Jacksonville's 38-yard touchdown reception from Wells to Brian Burnett ended the scoring for the day as the Dolphins ran 19 plays and took nearly 11:00 minutes of possession in the final frame to drain the clock.

Davidson freshman George Hatalowich paced the defense with a career-high 11 tackles, eight of them solo stops. Fellow rookie, Bryce Perry-Martin, made seven stops on the day, adding one more to his career-high set last week at Marist.

The 'Cats take their final road trip of the season next Saturday, Nov. 5 when they travel across the state to visit Campbell for a PFL clash. Kickoff with the Camels is slated for 4 p.m.
