BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Davidson stumbled in the second half, allowing 21 points en route to a 28-0 Pioneer Football League road loss at Campbell Saturday afternoon at Barker-Lane Stadium.

With the loss Davidson falls to 2-8 overall and 0-7 in PFL action, while with the win Campbell improves to 4-4 and 2-3 in the league.

Despite allowing a quick eight-play, 75-yard Camel scoring drive to open the game, the Davidson defense came to life the rest of the half.

Wildcat defensive back Cody Mitchell had a productive first quarter. The sophomore safety recorded the first two tackles of the game and picked off the Camels on their second series, preventing Campbell from opening up an early two-score lead.

Davidson turned over Campbell three times in the opening 30 minutes of play. Freshman linebacker George Hatalowich made his first career interception, while senior safety Ryan Leak forced a fumble, recovered by freshman Hunter Murphy.

The Wildcats had some early chances, opening drives in Camel territory on three occasions, but were unable to turn it into points. Campbell blocked a field goal and try and Trevor Smith's second attempt from 46 yards was just wide.

Davidson went into the break trailing just 7-0, but the Camels broke it open in the third with a pair of long scoring strikes. Robbins found Austin Fleming for 25 yards and followed it up with a 47-yard touchdown toss to Aaron Blockmon.

Freshman Stockton McGuire completed 9 passes for 112 yards and threw two interceptions. The Alpharetta, Ga., native also led the ground assault with 68 yards on 17 carries.

Freshman Stephen Shank led the Wildcat defensive charge with eight tackles, four of them solo stops. Junior Ryan Samuels and Alex Behrend each record a sack in the losing effort.

Senior John Cook punted eight times for 307 yards, an average of 38.4 yards-per-kick.  The Raleigh, N.C., native pinned Campbell inside the 20 on four occasions.

The Wildcats head into the bye week and return to action Saturday, Nov. 19 for the season finale against Morehead State. The 'Cats will honor 19 seniors prior to the 1 p.m. PFL kick at Richardson Stadium.
