DAVIDSON, N.C. — For the second time in the past three years, Davidson welcomes nationally-ranked Duke Tuesday night at Richardson Stadium in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup. The 'Cats are in a five-game stretch from March 27-April 12 where they play four of those games at home.

The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (3-5, 0-1 Atlantic 10), winners of eight of their past 10 contests at home dating back to last year, seeks to snap a three-game losing streak Tuesday when it plays No. 5 Duke (10-1) at 6 p.m. This will be the third straight year the Wildcats have faced a ranked opponent.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be the 13th meeting between the two schools, with the Blue Devils holding a 12-0 advantage in the series that dates back to 1996. The two teams will be playing each other for the third year in a row.

In last year's matchup at Duke, the No. 10 Blue Devils put five players in the books with three goals each and Davidson was unable to overcome two long runs in falling 21-2. Mary Leonard and Erin Doherty scored the two Wildcat goals, while Nicole Pettiglio earned an assist.

Last Time Out ...
DAVIDSON — In a battle down to the final horn, Davidson came up just short in falling in its first-ever Atlantic 10 game last Friday to George Washington, 11-10. The 'Cats' last-second effort to tie the game and force overtime went wide off the stick of Emma Sissman, who fired off an off-balance shot attempt while fading away before the final horn sounded.

Sissman paced the Wildcat attack with three goals, all coming in the first half, while Emily Cooke assisted on all three of the goals. Emily Rademacher added two scores, and Catherine Schmidt scored a goal and dished out an assist.

Davidson had a 9-7 lead after Schmidt hooked up with Arden Simone, who tallied her fourth goal of the year, with 18:43 left in the game. But, GW came back with a 4-0 run over the next 13 minutes to grab an 11-9 lead.

Annie Brockett brought the score to 11-10 with her 16th goal of the season and just 44 ticks remaining to set up a last-second effort by the 'Cats to try and tie the game.

Last Time Out ...
No. 5 DUKE —  Sixth-ranked Duke came out on top in a back-and-forth battle between a pair of top-10 teams last Saturday afternoon, defeating No. 7 Syracuse 10-9.

A pair of early markers by freshman Maddie Crutchfield enabled Duke to jump out to a 3-1 lead in the first 15 minutes of play. The visiting squad broke through for three consecutive scores inside the final seven minutes of the period, but senior Taylor Trimble converted from the eight-meter with three seconds remaining to give Duke a 5-4 lead at the break.

Late in the second half, a save by goalie Kyra Duryea set up Katie Trees on the offensive end, giving Duke a two-goal margin with just over 17 minutes remaining. The Blue Devils put together another defensive stand to keep it at 10-8 in their favor before Taylor Gait of the Orange once again made it a one-goal game. But, Duke held on in the final minutes for the win.

Brigid Smith recorded her fourth hat trick of the season and Crutchfield logged a season-high three points and added three caused turnovers. Duryea totaled nine saves in the victory.
