DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's lacrosse team gears up for their first-ever Atlantic 10 game by playing in front of the home crowd as they will host George Washington Friday night at 6 p.m. in Richardson Stadium in both team's league opener.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (3-4, 0-0 Atlantic 10), winners of eight of their past nine contests at home dating back to last year, seeks to snap a two-game losing streak Friday when it plays GW (2-6, 0-0 A-10) at 6 p.m. Friday's contest is the first of four A-10 games the Wildcats will play at home this year.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be the seventh meeting between the two schools, with the Colonials holding a 6-0 advantage in the series.
The last meeting took place last year at GW in the 'Cats third game of the season. Despite getting a career-high tying four goals from Emma Sissman, Davidson was unable to overcome three Colonial goals in the final 19 minutes in dropping a back-and-forth contest, 8-7, on the road. The game featured four ties and both teams had the lead at least three different times during the game.
Sissman led all scorers with her four goals. Erin Doherty had a goal and two assists, while Emily Cooke dished out three assists for the Wildcats.

Record Watch
Senior Emily Cooke moved into sole possession of second place in the record books in points after recording four points in a win vs. Bucknell, March 11. The attacker pushed her career total to 191 to pass Amanda Fleck, who had 185. Cooke already holds the school's all-time assist record, increasing her total to 118 after a two-assist game at High Point, March 15.
Fellow senior Emily Rademacher ranks third all-time with 121 draw controls. Junior Emma Sissman holds the career mark with 161, while her 88 goals are just outside the top-eight all-time. Goalie Katy Boyle moved into the top-10 all-time in saves with 189, ranking seventh, while her 9.42 career goals against average is tops all-time.
Weekly Honors
Senior Emily Cooke and freshman Christine Molinari became the first Davidson women's lacrosse players to earn Atlantic 10 weekly awards as the duo were named the player and rookie of the week for games played from Feb. 16-23.
Six in a Row at Home
Davidson had a six-game home streak that came to an end in a defeat to Navy, Feb. 21. The streak start last March 22 against Elon, a 15-8 triumph. The Wildcats rattled off wins against Old Dominion, Winthrop, Coastal Carolina and Liberty to finish out the year. They then opened the 2015 season with a 21-4 triumph over Kennesaw State to capture their sixth straight.
The record is seven straight set from the 2008 season into the start of the 2009 campaign.

Davidson ranks in the top-50 in several different categories nationally as a team and individually as of March 24...

Last Time Out ...
DAVIDSON — Elon had three players record three points each and Davidson was unable to overcome a two-goal deficit at the half as it was doubled up in a 10-5 setback on the road last Saturday.
Emily Rademacher led Davidson with three points on two goals and an assist, while Emma Sissman and Nicole Pettiglio netted two goals apiece. Sissman added a team-best five draw controls, while Veronica Fiorino matched her career-best with three.
In a low scoring first half, Elon held a 4-1 lead through 18 minutes of play. Sissman scored the 'Cats' lone goal during that span. Davidson added one more before the half ended with 37 seconds left off the stick of Pettiglio to make 4-2.
Sissman netted her second goal a little less than four minutes into the second half off an assist from Rademacher to bring the 'Cats within 5-3. Elon countered by putting the game away with four straight goals over the next 11 minutes to open up a 9-3 lead.
Last Time Out ...
... George Washington — The George Washington lacrosse team dropped its non-conference finale to California, 15-11, on Monday afternoon at the GW Lacrosse Field.
Senior Rachel Mia, who was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week earlier in the day, paced the Colonials with four goals, three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while senior Jamie Bumgardner and junior Olivia Boudreau each tallied four points on two goals and two assists. Sophomore Michaela Lynch also scored twice for GW.
Cal scored six in a row over an eight-minute stretch to grab a 9-3 lead in the first half. Bumgardner and Lynch interrupted the spurt with back-to-back tallies to make it 9-5, but the Bears countered with three more for a 12-5 advantage with 2:32 left in the half.
The Colonials rallied with four straight over the final 2:10 of the half to trail by just three, 12-9, at the break. It would be as close as they would get the rest of the way. Cal pushed its lead out to 15-10 in the second half.
Senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Jones made three saves in nearly 55 minutes between the pipes while freshman Adele Wise stopped one shot in 5:15 of action.
