'Cats Welcome Billikens to Town in Play 4 Kay Game Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Returning home for the first of only two home games in the month of February, Davidson plays host to Saint Louis Saturday in an Atlantic 10 matchup in John M. Belk Arena as part of the Wildcats' annual Play 4 Kay game in women's basketball. 

The 'Cats (5-19, 1-7 A-10) are hosting the Billikens for the first time after earning their first-ever Atlantic 10 win on the road in January against them.

Game Promotion: Play 4 Kay
Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game Saturday as Davidson hosts its 8th annual Play4Kay game, formerly known as the WBCA PinkZone Game. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Tee shirts can be purchased for the game and there will be a silent auction that will run through the first half. In addition, because it is also Valentine's Day, there will be free cookies and candy prior the game, while supplies last.

•Davidson is in its 36th season and reached the 400-win mark, Nov. 20, at Gardner-Webb.
•The 'Cats moved to the Atlantic 10, July 1, 2014, after a 21-year run in the Southern Conference.
•The Wildcats were picked to finish 12th in the A-10 Coaches Preseason Poll.
•Davidson returns seven letterwinners and four of its five starters from last year's 16-16 team.

Last Game Out at George Mason ...
•Davidson nearly won its second Atlantic 10 game last Sunday, but came up just short, 63-60, in a game that went down to the wire at George Mason.
•The 'Cats had a 56-50 lead late, but saw the Patriots score 13 of the final 17 points to earn the win.
•A Dakota Dukes free throw made it 60-59, but Mason hit a layup and two free throws in the end.
Hannah Early reached the 20-point mark for the third time with 20, getting 15 in the second half.
Mackenzie Latt tallied her ninth double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Dakota Dukes hauled in 10 rebounds.
•Davidson hit the 40-rebound mark for the 11th time this year and third game in a row.

Early and Latt Among the Top-10 in the Atlantic 10 ...
•Early is eighth in the league in scoring with a team-best average of 14.6 points per game.
•She ranks second in total threes with 62 and fifth in three-balls per game at 2.6.
•Latt (11.1 ppg on season) is third in rebounding at 8.6 per game.
•She is third in the league in defensive boards at 6.1 a game (146 of team-high 207).
•Latt also ranks 10th in offensive boards per game (2.5) and eighth in steals at 1.8 per contest.

Early Etching Her Name in the Record Books ...
•The junior is nine points away from becoming the 17th Wildcat to reach 1,000 for a career.
•With her 62 three-pointers, Early is just five away from setting the Wildcats' single season record.
•Early's 172 three-point attempts this year is also close to breaking a single-season record, needing just seven more attempts to hold the record.
•Early nailed a career-high six three-pointers and set a school single-game record with 13 attempts in a victory at Virginia, Dec. 28. She also tied the record at George Mason, Feb. 8.
•All-time, she ranks fifth in total threes (156), sixth in three-point attempts, eighth in blocks (79), ninth in field goals attempted and 15th in field goals made.

•Nov. 24- Latt was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week and College Sports Madness A-10 Player of the Week after averaging 17 points and nine rebounds, Nov. 17-24.
•Dec. 29- Timpton was named the Wildcats' second A-10 Rookie of the Week after scoring 10 points in a 67-57 win at Virginia, Dec. 28.

•Davidson is averaging nearly 14 assists a game in A-10 contests, with a high of 19 at VCU.
•Davidson finishes the year playing five of its final seven regular season games on the road.
•Early has scored in double figures in 22 of the 'Cats' 24 games this year, (50 overall for her career).
•The junior ran off a personal-best 13 game streak to open the season and recently had an eight-game streak that was snapped at George Washington, Feb. 5.

Scouting the Billikens ...
•Saint Louis comes into Saturday's game with an even 12-12 overall record and sits in a tie for sixth in the A-10 with a 5-6 mark.
•The Billikens are coming off an upset win against No. 20/21 George Washington Wednesday, 79-61. They snapped GW's 19-game win streak.
•They sent GW to its first league defeat behind five doube-digit scorers.
•Denisha Womack led the way with 17 points, while Jenny Vliet, Sadie Stipanovich and Jackie Kemph added 14 apiece. Jamesia Price scored 15.
•The Billikens shot a season-high 58 percent (11-of-19) from three-point distance against a George Washington with the 11 treys tying a season high.
•The win over a ranked opponent was Saint Louis' first since defeating No. 20 DePaul in overtime, Jan. 24, 2003.
•Stipanovich paces the Saint Louis' offense with averages of 13.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. She was held to eight points last meeting vs. Davidson.
•Womack led the offense last time out against the Wildcats with 10 points as the Billikens shot just 29.1 percent for th game.
