Wildcat Tidbits
• The 2015-16 season marks the 108th in the history of Davidson men's basketball.
• Davidson returns four starters, including all-conference performers Brian Sullivan (12.7 ppg, 83 3-pointers), Jack Gibbs (16.2 ppg, 4.8 apg, .425 3PT%, .856 FT%) and Peyton Aldridge (9.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 3.1 bpg) from last year's A-10 regular season champions.
• Jordan Barham (11.8 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and Jake Belford, who started the first six games in 2014-15 before suffering a season-ending injury, also return. Davidson welcomes the addition of freshmen Dusan Kovacevic and KiShawn Pritchett as well as Boston College transfer Will Magarity.
• Last season the Wildcats advanced to their 13th NCAA Tournament appearance and eighth under head coach Bob McKillop, who is in his 27th season at the helm.
• The Wildcats have advanced to postseason play 20 times (13 NCAA, 6 NIT, 1 CBI), including 10 of the last 11 seasons.
• The Wildcats are averaging 23.4 wins a year dating back to the 2004-05 season.
• Davidson ranked among national leaders in scoring, assists, assist/turnover ratio, 3-point field goals and 3-point field goal percentage a year ago. As usual, Davidson will challenge itself by playing one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country.
• Four straight seasons a Wildcat has been named Player of the Year; every scholarship player the last two years has signed a pro contract in Europe. McKillop, a 10-time Conference Coach of the Year, is just 4 wins shy of 500 for his career. He currently ranks 6th among active coaches on the NCAA's list for most seasons with current school and is one of six on that list who has spent their entire careers at that school.
Season Openers
• Davidson has an all-time record of 70-32 (.686) in season openers.
• Under head coach Bob McKillop, the Wildcats hold a mark of 12-14 in season openers.
• Nine of Davidson's season-opening losses during McKillop's tenure have come at the hand of teams from either the ACC, SEC, Atlantic 10 or Big 12, and seven have been against ranked opponents.
Last Meeting (Nov. 26, 2014)
• Jack Gibbs scored a career-high 37 points, Tyler Kalinoski added a personal best 25 and Davidson torched the nets for 53.6 percent, including 13 3-pointers as the Wildcats cruised to a 95-69 victory over UCF on Nov. 26, 2014.
• Gibbs (15-of-17) and Kalinoski (9-of-15) combined to go 24-for-32 from the floor and drilled 10 3-pointers (5 each), while leading Davidson (3-1) to a convincing 42-26 advantage on the glass with 6 and 8 boards, respectively. Freshman Nathan Ekwu also contributed double figures for the 'Cats with 11 points off the bench.
• In addition to 22 first-half points from Gibbs on 9-of-10 shooting, the Wildcats went on a 14-4 run late in the period to go up by 11, before taking a 45-38 lead into the break.
• Davidson opened the second half on an 18-8 streak and stretched the margin to as many as 29, 92-63, with under five minutes to play on an Ekwu dunk.
• After UCF cut the deficit to 14 with 11:17 to play, the Wildcats responded with a 17-5 streak capped off by three straight triples from Kalinoski, who poured in 21 points in the second half.
Roster Breakdown
• The 2015-16 men's basketball roster will feature four seniors, five juniors, six sophomores and two freshmen.
• 11 players hail from the United States, including four each from North Carolina and Ohio.
• Davidson also has five players with international roots – Nathan Ekwu (Enugu, Nigeria), Manu Giamoukis (Thessaloniki, Greece), Dusan Kovacevic (Novi Sad, Serbia), Will Magarity (Stockholm, Sweden) and Oskar Michelsen (Helsinki, Finland).
• A total of 33 international players have come through the Davidson program since McKillop took over in 1989.
