DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's soccer team looks to close out their 2015 home schedule on a winning note this week, playing host to St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's in a pair of Atlantic 10 games at Alumni Stadium.
The Matchup | Senior Day
Davidson finishes out its 2015 home schedule with Atlantic 10 games Thursday at 7 p.m. vs. St. Bonaventure and Sunday at 2 p.m. against Saint Joseph's. Sunday's contest vs. the Hawks will the 'Cats' Senior Day as they will honor Madison See, Maddie Fisher, Dani Johsnon, Jenni Isaac, Vicky Bruce and Sarah Tuggle.
The All-Time Series/Last Meetings
Davidson and SBU have played just once, meeting last year at St. Bonaventure. The Wildcats won their first-ever A-10 game with a 2-0 shutout victory. In that victory, Stephanie Piperno and Lauren Grace Himes each scored a goal, while Vicky Bruce assisted on both goals.
This will be the first time the 'Cats and Hawks have met each other.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson fell last week in A-10 games at UMass and home vs. George Mason ... freshman Mia Hodges scored her second goal of the season in a 2-1 setback Sunday at home to Mason ... Vicky Bruce leads the team with nine assists and 13 points ... she is second in the A-10 in assists and is fourth in shots (57) ... Bruce was A-10 Player of the Week, Sept. 21 ... Bruce set a program single-game record with four assists in a win vs. Francis Marion, Sept. 26 ... Ashley Finke has a career-high 11 points on five goals (tops on the team) and an assist ... she has netted two game-winners on the season ... Sarah Tuggle and Dani Johnson have three goals each ... Jenni Isaac has a goal and career-best three assists for a personal-best five points ... Davidson has 23 goals as a team ... goalkeeper Becca Ravitz has started eight games and recorded 39 saves ... Davidson is 2-6 at home this year ... the 'Cats' first three A-10 opponents were picked to finish in the top three of the preseason A-10 poll ... head coach Greg Ashton picked up his 182nd career win and 111th at Davidson with the win vs. the Dukes ... he is eight wins away from becoming the program's all-time winningest coach ... the 'Cats return 16 letterwinners, including eight starters ... they welcome 11 newcomers to this year's team ... Davidson was picked to finish 13th in their second year in the A-10 after going 2-5-1 in its first go-around.
Scouting the Bonnies
St. Bonaventure (5-8-2, 2-4 A-10) sits in a tie with Duquesne and Saint Louis for seventh place in the standings ... it is coming off a 2-0 week, getting wins against Rhode Island (4-3, OT) and Saint Louis (1-0) ... the wins snapped a six-game losing streak ... the Bonnies are 2-5-1 on the road ... Abby Maiello has a team-best nine goals and 23 points (t-3rd in A-10) ... Danielle Vis had six assists to go with three goals for 12 points, while Lauren Hill has 14 points on seven goals ... Hill was named A-10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday after tallying three goals, two of them game-winners, last week ... goalkeeper Beth Moore has started all 10 of her games, registering a 1.56 goals against average and 46 saves ... she has two shutouts ... SBU went 3-4-2 in non-conference games this year ... the Bonnies were pick last in the A-10 preseason poll after going 7-11 a year ago (2-6 in A-10 action) ... SBU has seven newcomers.
Scouting the Hawks
Sitting at 9-6 overall (3-3 A-10), Saint Joseph's is in a tie for fifth in the league standings ... it plays at Saint Louis Thursday ... the Hawks went 2-0 last week with victories against Richmond (2-1) and Duquesne (1-0) ... Emily Gingrich and Michaela Finneyfrock were A-10 Co-Player and Rookie of the Week this past week ... it was Gingrich's second weekly award ... she has team bests of nine goals (3rd in A-10), six assists and 24 points (2nd) ... she is a two-time all-conference pick ... Dakota Mills is next on the team with 12 points (5 goals, 2 assists) ... between the pipes, Allison Ebling has started 11 games ... she has a 1.00 GAA (4th), 35 saves and four shutouts (t-3rd) ... St. Joe's returns six starters and 19 letterwinners ... it won a program-best 11 games last year (4-4 A-10).
