DAVIDSON, N.C. – Freshman goalkeeper Alex Carpenter and the Wildcat defense helped give Davidson its third shutout of the season by scoring a 2-0 victory Thursday evening over St. Bonaventure in a key Atlantic 10 women's soccer matchup at Alumni Stadium.

The Wildcats snapped a two-game skid as they improved to 6-10 overall and 2-5 in league action. The 'Cats are fighting for one of the top eight seeds in the A-10 Tournament, which will be held on the campus of Davidson. The Bonnies saw their two-game win streak end, falling to 5-9-2 overall and 2-5 in A-10 play.

• Last year saw Davidson collect the program's first-ever Atlantic 10 win against St. Bonaventure in its league opener.
• It also won that game 2-0, earning the shutout on the road.
• Senior Dani Johnson got the Wildcats on the board first, scoring the eventual game-winner with a penalty kick at the 29:09 mark in the first half.
• It was Davidson's first PK of the season, while Johnson registered her fifth career PK goal and fourth game-winner.
•Johnson has a career-high tying four goals on the season and 10 for her career.

• Carpenter and the 'Cats' defense took care of the rest in earning the shutout. The freshman keeper, who recorded a combined shutout with Becca Ravitz earlier this season, picked up her first solo shutout as well as her first collegiate win.
• She finished with six saves in goal, with at least half of them resulting in outstanding stops.
• Davidson had a 19-13 advantage in shots and also earned four corner kicks to the Bonnies' three.
• Vicky Bruce pushed her shot total to 61 as she came into the night ranked fourth in the A-10.

Davidson closes out its home schedule for the regular season with a matchup vs. Saint Joseph's, Sunday, Oct. 25. The game vs. St. Joe's will also be Senior Day.
