INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Sophomore Cam Cheuvront's career day wasn't enough for the Davidson football team as the Wildcats fell to Butler, 38-7, in PFL action Saturday at the Butler Bowl.
Cheuvront led the Wildcats with a career-high 103 yards off eight catches for his first-career 100-yard game. Taylor Mitchell followed with completing 16-of-28 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown.
The Bulldogs held Davidson to 234 total yards with the help of five total sacks for a loss of 30 yards and holding the Wildcats to 1-of-12 third down conversions.
Butler scored twice in the first quarter off a 30-yard touchdown pass and a 12-yard rush to take an early 14-0 lead heading into halftime. Cheuvront led the two teams with 61 receiving yards, including a 33-yard reception, off five catches in the first 30 minutes.
After the break, the 'Cats got on the board off a 60-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell to Nick Wheeler with just under five minutes left in the third. But the Bulldogs immediately responded with an 87-yard kick return that led to a one-yard rush from Matt Shiltz to go up, 28-7.
A 29-yard field goal and a three-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth secured the contest for Butler.
