Wildcats Defeat Kentucky Wesleyan in Overtime, 14-7

DAVIDSON, N.C. – A William Morris 9-yard touchdown reception and Thomas Sykes' interception in the first overtime lifted Davidson to a 14-7 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.
With the win, the Wildcats improve to 1-4 overall.
Morris' 16th career touchdown came on a 3rd down and eight pass from Taylor Mitchell, who finished the rainy day 18-of-37 for 118 yards.
Davidson took a 7-0 lead at the beginning of the second quarter on a Jeffrey Keil one-yard scamper that capped off a 12-play, 70 yard scoring drive.
The Wildcats' defense held Kentucky Wesleyan (1-4) to just 29 total yards and only one first down in the opening half.
After the Panthers began the second half with a 67-yard scoring drive to tie the game, 7-7, Ben Rowell returned the ensuing kickoff 80 yards, but the Wildcats missed a 37-yard field goal attempt.
Kentucky Wesleyan was unable to take advantage of a lengthy drive as Davidson's Nick Ragsdale blocked a 30-yard field goal attempt with 3:56 left in the third.
The Panthers had another opportunity to go in front with just over a minute to play, but Cole Woodburn's 39-yard field-goal attempt hit the left upright.
The Wildcats took over with 1:17 remaining in the fourth quarter, but was only able to advance to ball to just shy of midfield before time expired.
Saturday marked the fifth-straight game Davidson has played in the rain this season.
Davidson will travel to league-foe Butler for a 1 p.m. game next Saturday.
