DAVIDSON, N.C. — The red-hot Davidson women's lacrosse team looks to continue its winning ways by playing hosting to their second Big South opponent in Coastal Carolina Friday evening at 6 p.m. in Richardson Stadium.
The Wildcats have won their last five straight games and are two away from tying last year's school-record seven-game win streak. In addition, they are also riding a nine-game Big South winning streak dating back to last season when the 'Cats went 7-0 to capture the regular season title.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (6-5, 2-0 Big South), winners of five in a row with three of the wins coming at home, plays its third Big South opponent by hosting the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (3-9, 1-2 Big South) Friday night. The 'Cats have already defeated Winthrop and Campbell to start league play.
Friday night's game will be the second of three contests Davidson will play this week. They opened the week by doubling up Campbell, 14-7, Tuesday night.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be the second meeting between both schools after Davidson cruised to an 18-8 road win in last year's first meeting. The win set a new school record with its seventh straight victory. Ann Fucigna tied the Wildcat all-time points record of 185 in the win, while Emily Cooke and Mary Leonard each had five points on two goals and three assists to pace the offense.

Record Watch: Career Assist Record Falls
Junior Emily Cooke broke yet another record, after setting a pair of single-season marks a year ago in points (87) and assists (55). She set the program's all-time assists mark, March 22, in Davidson's hom win vs. Elon. The attacker dished out a pair of assists to give her 15 on the year and a new Wildcat record of 78 for her career. She passed Linda Rothmund's mark of 77 set from 1996-99.
Cooke' team-leading 19 assists rank second in the Big South, while she is third on the team with 24 points behind Emma Sissman's 28 (team-high 27 on goals) and Ann Fucigna's 32 (20 gls., 12 asts.).
Weekly Honors
Freshman Katherine Rueger won the Wildcats' first Big South weekly award, taking home the Crons Brand Rookie of the Week, March 10. Senior tri-captain Paige Logan won the 'Cats' second weekly award a few weeks later, bringing home the Big South Defensive Player of the Week, March 24. Taking home her third career Big South weekly award was Ann Fucigna as she collected the Wildcats' first Big South Offensive Player of the Week, March 31.
Big South / National Rankings
The Wildcats are well represented throughout the Big South statistical rankings as well as the national rankings. Junior Emily Cooke ranks second in the Big South with her 19 assists and is 34th in the nation. Emma Sissman is tops in the Big South in draw controls with a team-high 48, while she ranks 20th overall in the nation. In goal, Katy Boyle has had a solid junior campaign as she ranks third in the league in save percentage (.433) and 58th in the nation. Her 7.4 saves per game rank 36th in the nation, while her 9.55 goals against average is second in the Big South and 48th overall in the nation.
Five Wins in a Row
After suffering a tough 8-6 defeat to Villanova at home, March 16, Davidson has been on the winning side of its last five games in a row. Two of those wins have come down to the wire at home, with the 'Cats netting a 10-9 win vs. Old Dominion and a 9-8 overtime thriller vs. Winthrop.
During the win streak, Davidson has averaged nearly 12 goals a game and is outscoring its opponents 59-40. Ann Fucigna and Emma Sissman have paced the offense. The senior Fucigna has tallied 24 points on 14 goals and 10 assists, while Sissman has netted a team-high 17 goals and pulled in 21 draw controls. Rebecca Garman (11) and Paige Logan (11) have combined for 22 groundballs and 11 caused turnovers on defense. Katy Boyle has stopped 31 shots between the pipes, including a career-high 11 in the win vs. Old Dominion, and carries a 7.84 goals against average.

DAVIDSON —In the first of three games this week, Davidson started off in winning style by rolling to their fifth straight win on the strength of a 14-7 Big South road victory at Campbell Tuesday evening.
Led by five players who scored two or more goals, the 'Cats (6-5, 2-0 Big South) moved over .500 for the first time this year. They won their ninth straight Big South contest dating back to last season when they went 7-0.
Emma Sissman led Davidson again with three goals, while Ann Fucigna record four points on two goals and two assists. The duo helped the Wildcats jump out to a 4-0 lead.
Later, Annie Brockett and Mary Leonard scored for a 7-2 lead and Emily Cooke capped off the big first half with a goal before the halftime buzzer for a 9-4 lead.
Campbell closed to within 10-6 in the second half, but Davidson rattled off three goals in a row and Katherine Rueger's second goal of the game doubled up the Fighting Camels for the 14-7 win.
Last Time Out ...
... COASTAL CAROLINA — The Coastal Carolina women's lacrosse team lost its second straight game at home last Sunday afternoon, falling 13-5 to High Point. The Chanticleers were able to keep pace with the Panthers in the first half, but were outscored 9-2 in the second half.
For just the second game this season, no Chanticleer player scored more than one goal.
A three-goal streak by High Point, spanning over 15 minutes of the first half, was answered by back to back Coastal goals near the end of the opening period that cut High Point's lead to 4-3 at halftime.
High Point's offense went to work immediately after the break, scoring four straight goals in the opening nine minutes of the second half to build a comfortable 8-3 lead and never looked back.
Coastal goalie Jenna Stover played the entire game in net, making four saves.
