DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Coming off its longest road swing of the season, Davidson returns home to Alumni Stadium Friday evening for a 7 p.m. Atlantic 10 contest against nationally-ranked Saint Louis.
The Wildcats, who went 3-1-0 during their stretch away from 1992 Team Field, come in 5-1-2 overall and 0-1-0 in league play following a 2-0 setback at Dayton over the weekend. In addition, Davidson enters its first-ever meeting with the Billikens ranked as high as 19th in the national polls.
"Our first home A-10 game means a lot, especially playing a great squad like Saint Louis," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "And it will invigorating to be back under the lights on 1992 Team Field at Alumni Stadium. It's going to be serious fun."
Senior Alan Reiter continues to lead the 'Cats in scoring with four goals and 10 total points. Forwards Valeriy Sviderskiy and Maxi Pragnell have scored a pair goals and set up two more, while Shane Macnamara has a team-best three assists.
Unbeaten at home this season, Davidson is averaging just under two goals per contest.
"We will continue our areas of focus on a strong start and strive to truly put together 90 quality minutes of smart, tough, cohesive soccer."
Saint Louis (8-2-0, 1-0-0 A-10), which is ranked in the Top-20 of every National Poll, has won six of its last seven, including 1-0 wins over No. 5 Louisville and No. 3 Creighton.
"Like us, SLU aims for a fluid, attractive style of soccer so we will share some similarities in how we play. They too are having a very good season thus far, so two confident teams will face off," commented Spear.
Robert Kristo, who ranks second among league leaders in goals scored and points per game, paces the Billikens with eight goals in nine contests.
Up next, Davidson will travel to in-state foe Duke Tuesday evening for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
