'Cats Earn 2-2 Draw with Furman

DAVIDSON — With Davidson down a goal late, Ayman Maadir scored the equalizer on a direct kick, helping the Wildcats earn a 2-2 draw with Furman at Alumni Stadium Friday night.
It's the Wildcats' fourth tie in as many outings in 2026. Furman moved to 1-1-3.
Maadir's strike over a Paladins wall came with less than four minutes remaining and was his team-leading second score of the year.
Matthew Thissell's first goal as a Wildcat, a 30-yard missile, gave Davidson a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. But Furman answered a minute later, and Wilfer Bustamante's goal off a long throw-in forced a 1-1 tie at the break.
The Paladins quickly moved ahead in the second half when Landon Hill scored 1:12 after the intermission. But Maadir's pinpointed shot helped the Wildcats pull even.
The teams were essentially even in scoring chances. Davidson led the way in shots (12-11) and corners (4-3), while Furman had a slight edge in shots-on-goal (7-6).
