DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's soccer team seeks to get a pair of thier first wins on the season when they travel to Winthrop Friday night and then come home to square off against James Madison Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

The Matchup
Davidson plays an away and home contest this weekend, travelling just over the state border to face Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C., Friday at 7 p.m., before coming hoome Sunday to take on the James Madison Dukes at 2 p.m.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The Wildcats and the Eagles series is four games old, with the 'Cats holding a perfect 3-0-1 mark. The two teams last squared off in 2010 at Alumni Stadium as Davidson took a 2-0 victory. Davidson has not faced JMU since 1991 when the Dukes moved to 2-0 in the series with a 6-0 home win. 

Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson (0-3-3) dropped a pair of contests last weekend, falling at home, 3-0, to Southern Methodist, then falling 2-0 on the road to Clemson on Sunday ... the Wildcats were held without a shot Sunday as the Tigers fired off 32, with 13 of them going on goal ... Rachel Locke stopped a career-best tying 10 of the shots ... she is second in the SoCon with 35 saves, while she is in a three-way tie for first with three shutouts ... Becca Fisher leads the team with 17 shots through six games, good for third-most in the SoCon ... the Wildcats are 0-2-1 on the road, while going 0-1-1 at home so far this year ... Davidson was picked to finish fourth in the 2013 SoCon preseason poll ... the Wildcats return 21 letterwinners, including 10 starters ... head coach Greg Ashton enters his 10th season and needs just five more victories to reach 100 for his career at?Davidson ... the soccer program, which was started in 1989, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary throughout the year with the main festivities coming Oct. 18-20 against UNCG and Elon.  

Scouting the Eagles
Winthrop (3-1) has won three of its first four games to open the 2013 campaign ... last time out, the Eagles set four school records in an 11-1 win vs. Alabama A&M, Sept. 8 ... the four school records were goals, team points in a game (31), shots in a game (40), and individual record for shots by Krystyna Freda with 12 ... she scored three goals in the win to push her season total to six ... Freda was named the Big South Preseason Attacking Player of the Year ... the junior was the player of the year last season after winning freshman of the year honors in 2011 ... three other Eagles have scored a pair of goals each ... Winthrop is coming off a 12-7-2 mark last year and went 7-2-2 in the Big South ... it was picked to finish third in the 2013 preseason poll ... the Eagles bring back seven of the 11 starters, while 20 letterwinners in all return ... head coach Spencer Smith is in his fourth year with a 21-24-5 record at Winthrop ... he has 201 career wins in 23 years.

Scouting the Dukes
JMU plays at Charlotte Friday night, before coming to Davidson ... James Madison (3-3) is coming off a 1-1 week in which it defeated Villanova (3-2), before falling to Virginia Tech 3-1 at home ... The Dukes two other wins have come against Richmond and Marshall ... Meghan Cox and Ashley Herndon have two goals apiece to pace an 11-goal team attack ... Allie Bunner has assisted on a team-high three goals ... between the pipes, Ellen Forrest has started all six games with 24 saves and a 1.83 goals against average ...  ... the Dukes were picked to finish fourth in the CAA after going 5-5 in league play a year ago with a 7-11 overall mark ... they bring back seven players who started at least eight games last season ... head coach David Lombardo enters his 23rd year at JMU with 278 wins at the school.

Davidson will stay at home and take on cross-county rival Charlotte Sunday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m.
