Field Hockey Hosts Liberty Sunday at 1 p.m.

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson field hockey team will look to snap out of a two-game skid and return to its winning ways when it returns to Belk Turf Field Sunday to face Liberty at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: RADFORD, Va. – Radford erased a two-goal first-half deficit and scored twice in the second half to earn a 5-3 win over Davidson in NorPac East field hockey action Friday night at RU Field Hockey Field. Marlee Schramm scored the game-winning goal for Radford (7-7, 2-2 NorPac East) in the 43rd minute, with Lynsey Daughtrey earning the assist, to break a 3-3 tie. The Highlanders' defense kept Davidson's offense quiet in the second half, and Melissa Register added an insurance goal in the 48th minute. Register deflected a cross from Madonna Wadolowski high into the cage on the goal for the final 5-3 margin. Annie Evans, Finley Amato and Meg Jarrell all scored for Davidson (7-6, 2-1 NorPac East). Goalkeeper Sarah Fisher made a season-high and career-high matching 11 saves on 26 shots.
 
Liberty is 5-7 in its first season of competition and suffered a 5-0 defeat to Wake Forest Friday night. Liberty has played two other NorPac games falling to both Radford and Longwood. The Flames will join the NorPac East Division in 2012 as the division's fifth member and the conference's ninth.
 
THE SERIES: This is the first meeting between the teams as this is Liberty's first year competing in field hockey.
 
PLAYERS TO?WATCH:?Davidson returns NorPac Player and Offensive Player of the Year Finley Amato, who leads the team in scoring with 23 points (9 goals, 5 assists), as well as all-conference defender Steph Meador. Christine Rua is now second on the team in scoring with 15 points (6g, 3a) after factoring in on all four goals against Saint Louis. Annie Evans has four goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Sarah Fisher has a .689 save percentage and a 2.67 goals against average
 
Helen Doolittle leads Liberty with six goals, while Abby Batdorf has eight points (3g, 2a). Goalkeeper Ann Jefferis made 15 stops against Wake Forest and boasts a .798 save percentage and 1.81 goals against average.
 
COACHES: Ginny Turner, honored last season as the 2010 NorPac Coach of the Year, is in her fifth season at the helm of the Wildcats after guiding the Wildcats to one of the most successful seasons in program history last season. Jodi Murphy is the inaugural coach at Liberty after serving as an assistant coach at Richmond.
 
HONORS: Christine Rua was named the NorPac East Co-Offensive Player of the Week, while goalkeeper Sarah Fisher was named the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week after stellar performances against Appalachian State and Saint Louis. Rua tallied a hat trick against Saint Louis and Fisher held both teams to one goal each. Finley Amato earned her second weekly offensive award after scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over Longwood. Tyler McFayden was named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week after scoring the double-overtime, game-winning goal at William & Mary. Amato was first named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist against No. 16 Louisville. Fisher was first named the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week after posting a season-opening shutout against Georgetown.
