Field Hockey Falls to Stanford

DAVIDSON — Stanford scored three first-half goals and held off Davidson 4-1 in field hockey Sunday afternoon at Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 8-6.
Stanford's Chantal Eiwanger got the scoring started, striking 9:04 into the contest as the Cardinal (6-8) built the lead.
The Wildcats got on the board in the final seconds of the third quarter when Matilda Collins converted a penalty stroke, cutting it to 3-1. It was Collins' fifth goal of the year.
Stanford held 17-9 and 10-5 advantages in shots and penalty corners, respectively.

The Wildcats will visit Saint Joseph's Friday, Oct. 24.
