
Davidson Closes Out 2010 Home Schedule This Weekend; Honors Seniors on Sunday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Wildcat women's soccer team will look to cap off its 2010 home schedule with a pair of wins when they play host to Samford and Chattanooga at Alumni Stadium this weekend.
The Matchup
Davidson wraps up its final two home games with contests against Samford on Friday, Oct. 22 and Chattanooga on Sunday, Oct. 24. Gametimes are set for 7 and 2 p.m., with Sunday's game being Senior Day.
Senior Day
Prior to the game vs. the Mocs, Davidson will honor its four seniors as part of Senior Day. Midfielder Allison Drutchas, forward Callan Elswick, defender Amanda Flink and goalkeeper Beth Peters will each be honored on Sunday.
The All-Time Series
Davidson leads both series vs. the Bulldogs and Mocs. The series vs. Samford is only two games old, with Davidson holding a 1-0-1 record. The last time the Wildcats hosted the Bulldogs, in 2008, they took a 3-0 decision.
The 'Cat have dominated the series against Chattanooga. The 'Cats are 14-1-1 all-time vs. the Mocs and in the last five meetings, all wins, they have outscored them, 18-3.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson (5-8-3, 1-4-3 SoCon) scored its first league win last week in a 2-0 shutout vs. College of Charleston, but then fell 3-1 on the road to The Citadel on Sunday ... Davidson is currently riding a 10-game unbeaten streak at home (6-0-4) ... The 2-0 shutout win vs. Cougars was the 'Cats fifth of the season ... Sunday's setback with the Bulldogs was the first defeat for Davidson in the all-time series (9-1) ... Allison Drutchas (preseason All-SoCon pick) tallied four points last week on a goal and two assists ... she holds the team-lead with 13 points and is tied for the team-high with three goals ... her seven assists (2nd in SoCon) are a career-high ... fellow classmate Amanda Flink (preseason All-SoCon pick) netted a pair of goals last week to give her three ... In last year's 1-1 double-overtime tie vs. Samford, Callan Elswick scored the tying goal ... Drutchas (goal) and Elswick (assist) both registered points in last season's 4-2 win at UTC ... goalkeeper Jessie Baxa has 60 saves and a career-best five shutouts ... Elswick, nominated as one of the 30 seniors (men & women), was selected Oct. 6 as one of 10 women's finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Samford (10-5-1, 6-2 SoCon) is riding a six-game winning streak after scoring two 1-0 wins last weekend ... the Bulldogs, tied for second in the league at 6-2, are 3-3 on the road ... Trine Taule and Sarah Wilkinson pace the team with five goals each, while leading the team with 12 and 11 points, respectively ... Hilary Samuels has a team-high five assists ... the Bulldogs' 27 goals are tied for sixth-most in the league and their 22 assists are good for fifth in the SoCon ... goalkeeper Alyssa Whitehead has started 15 of her 16 games ... she has 68 saves (5th in the SoCon), a goals against average of 0.79 ((3rd) and is tops in the league with nine shutouts ... 16 letterwinners return from last year's 12-1-5 team that advanced to the SoCon Tournament ... head coach Todd Yelton has a career mark at Samford of 107-46-24.
Scouting the Mocs
Chattanooga (3-11-2, 1-5-2 SoCon) went 0-1-1 last week after tying Western Carolina (1-1) and falling to Appalachian State, 3-1 ... The Mocs are 0-3-2 in their last five games ... Donna-Kay Henry paces the Mocs with six goals and 14 points ... she ranks second in the league in shots with 51 ... Becca Smith is second on the team with eight points, while Lauren Wilson has a team-best three assists ... both Henry and Smith scored goals in last year's match vs. Davidson ... freshman Taylor Mangrum has a league-best 107 saves between the pipes and has started 13 of 14 games ... UTC returns 14 letterwinners from last year's 7-8-1 squad, with nine of those being starters ... the Mocs have yet to win a road game this season, sitting at 0-8.
