Curry Picked Seventh by Golden State in 2009 NBA Draft

NEW YORK - Davidson guard Stephen Curry has been selected seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2009 NBA Draft Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
“This is the best job in the world,” said Curry. “Every night you are going to be playing against the best players in the world. I'm very excited about this opportunity.”
Curry led the nation in scoring with 28.6 points an outing and led the Southern Conference in assists (5.6/gm) and steals (2.5/gm) in 2008-09. He became Davidson's and the Southern Conference's career scoring leader and ranks 25th on the NCAA Division I career scoring chart (2,635 points) and fourth in 3-pointers (414).
He was a Consensus First-Team All-America selection this season (The Sporting News, Associated Press, NABC and USBWA), the first Davidson player to earn the honor since Fred Hetzel in 1965, and a Consensus Second-Team All-American in 2008.
Curry is a two-time Southern Conference Player of the Year and was a John R. Wooden Award finalist in 2008. He ranked fourth in the nation in scoring with 25.9 points a game as a sophomore, and his 21.5 points a game in 2006-07 was ninth nationally and second among freshman behind Kevin Durant of Texas.
Davidson returns 10 letterwinners and two starters from the 2008-09 team, which posted a 27-8 record and advanced to the NIT second round.
