Field Hockey To Host Radford In NorPac East Match

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson field hockey team will be looking to move up in the NorPac East standings against Radford as they resume their conference schedule on Wednesday night on Belk Turf Field at 6 p.m.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson is currently 4-9, 0-2 NorPac East, and will be looking for their first NorPac East win of the season. The 'Cats earned wins over UC Davis (4-2) and Catawba (7-0) during their last home stand, but had a neutral site contest in Richmond cancelled against Saint Louis on Saturday before falling to Virginia Commonwealth (0-3) on Sunday. Freshman Finley Amato leads the Wildcats' balanced attack with three goals and one assist. A total of 11 different players have scored for Davidson, nine of which registered a goal in their most recent pair of wins. A trio of freshmen have been honored as NorPac East Rookies of the Week this season, as Amato, Annie Evans and Brit Donaldson have all been honored.
Scouting the Highlanders: Radford is 6-7, 2-0 NorPac East after most recently defeating Appalachian State and falling to No. 9 Boston College, 0-5. Their other conference win came against Longwood, 2-1. Radford's Marlee Schramm was tabbed the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week for this past week after pacing the Radford offense in a 4-1 league victory over Appalachian State. Schramm tallied five points (two goals/one assist) in the win over the Mountaineers. Courtney Poole leads the team in scoring with six goals and one assist.
The Series: Radford holds the upper hand in the all-time series between the two teams. Davidson is 9-23-2 against the Highlanders, but won two-of-three contests last season. The schools played twice in the regular season, with each winning their respective home matches. Davidson and Radford then met in the NorPac tournament where Davidson's Lauren Calve (since graduated) scored the game-winning goal with 27 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Wildcats to a 3-2 victory.
Up Next: Davidson will complete the home-and-home series with Radford, traveling to Virginia for a 1 p.m. match. The 'Cats will then complete the regular season at home with matches against Appalachian State (Oct. 24, 7 p.m.) and Longwood (Oct. 31, 1 p.m.)
