Layup Line
• Davidson will play at Samford's Pete Hanna Center for the first time when the Wildcats take on the Bulldogs Saturday at 3 p.m. Eastern.
• The game will be broadcast live on SportsSouth with Tom Werme and Daymeon Fishback calling the action.
• The game is sold out, marking the first time the Pete Hanna Center, completed in 2007, will have a capacity crowd. Saturday's crowd is expected to be the largest in school history, besting the attendance of 4,240 that packed Seibert Hall to see the Bulldogs square off against Georgia State Feb. 1, 2001.
• The contest starts a stretch where the Wildcats play four SoCon games in a week.
• Davidson has won 40 straight Southern Conference regular-season games and 48 of its last 49, dating back to Feb. 25, 2006. The league record is 44 by West Virginia from 1956-60.
• Davidson has won 15 of its last 17 contests overall and is coming off a 92-70 win at Chattanooga Wednesday night.
• The Wildcats own their best record at this point of the season since the 1995-96 campaign, when Davidson won 19 in a row to post a 25-3 mark before falling 69-60 to Western Carolina in the SoCon Championship. The 'Cats lost their last contest that season 100-79 at South Carolina in the NIT.
• Junior guard Stephen Curry needs 234 points to pass John Gerdy and become Davidson's all-time leading scorer.
• Curry was named the SoCon Player of the Week Tuesday after averaging 31.5 points in two victories last week. It's a league-record sixth time he has earned the honor, which has been awarded since 1968. He's received the accolade 14 times in his career.
• Curry, who leads the nation in scoring, is the only player in Division I ranked in the top-10 in points, assists and steals per game.
• Curry has also moved into the top-25 in NCAA Division I career 3-pointers. He is tied for 18th with 363 and is 16 away from moving into the top-10.
• Head coach Bob McKillop, the SoCon's winningest coach, picked up his 200th career league win with the 'Cats' victory over Wofford last Saturday.
• With 10 wins this season, McKillop has now led the Wildcats to double-digit SoCon victories 15 times, including the last eight campaigns.
• Samford enters the game in second place in the North Division.
• The Bulldogs have won five of their last six contests and are coming off a 69-46 home victory over Georgia Southern Thursday.
• Samford is 8-2 at home this season, including 4-2 in league games.
Series History
• Davidson leads the all-time series, which began in the 1992-93 campaign, 3-0.
• The 'Cats and Bulldogs met for the first time since 1993 back in January, and Davidson came away with a 76-55 home victory.
• Stephen Curry tallied 21 points, eight assists and four steals for Davidson, and the Wildcats scored 32 points off the bench, led by Will Archambault and Ben Allison with 12 points each.
• Bryan Friday scored 10 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Leftovers From Chattanooga Game
• Davidson held Chattanooga to 38.9 percent shooting from the field; it's the 12th time this season the Wildcats have held their opponent under 40 percent.
• Curry reached the 30-point mark for the 11th time this season, tying his own school record he set last season.
• Curry also moved into 10th on the SoCon all-time scoring list with 2,250 points.
• It was the sixth double-double for Lovedale this season and the eighth of his career.
Claw Marks
• Davidson has held its opponents under 40 percent shooting in 12 games this season and has won all 12.
• The Wildcats have outrebounded their opponent in 14 games this season and have won all 14.
• Stephen Curry has hit the 20-point mark in 64 career games, the 30-point mark in 26 outings and the 40-point plateau five times. He owns the school record for career games with 40 or more and career contests with 30 or more.
• Curry has scored 25 or more points in the last five contests.
• Davidson held Furman to 13 second-half points Jan. 21. The Paladins were held to four points in the first 17:10 of the stanza.
• Davidson set a school record with 25 steals against Guilford Nov. 14. Curry and Max Paulhus Gosselin combined for 17.
• The 'Cats' victory over NC State Dec. 6 was their first against an ACC school since defeating North Carolina 58-54 in Chapel Hill Nov. 20, 2001.
• Davidson is now 1-2 all-time in Time Warner Cable Arena with the losses coming to North Carolina and Duke last season and a win against NC State this season.
BlackOut Belk Arena Set for Feb. 7
• The third annual BlackOut Belk Arena will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, when Davidson hosts Southern Conference rival College of Charleston at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
• The concept behind BlackOut Belk is to flood Belk Arena with black T-shirts, showing a unified home crowd, and also Davidson's commitment to the community as proceeds from the event are donated to a local charity. This year's charity is HAMMERS, an alliance between the Davidson Housing Coalition and Davidson College that was started in 2003.
• BlackOut Belk t-shirts can be purchased for $15 Monday, Feb. 2, at the men's basketball game against Western Carolina (game time is 7 p.m.). T-shirts can also be purchased at the Baker Sports Complex front desk from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday Feb. 3, through Friday, Feb. 6, while supplies last. Shirts can be purchased via cash, check, Cat Card and credit card.
• This year, a donation will be made to HAMMERS, an organization created to “reduce the immediate threats to life, health, and safety in homes owned and occupied by lower wealth residents of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and Mooresville.” Since its first project in 2005, HAMMERS has successfully completed repairs on more than 80 homes in the North Mecklenburg area.
