DAVIDSON, N.C. - After picking up their first Southern Conference victory of the season last Sunday against VMI, the Davidson wrestling team will look to continue their winning ways when they play host to UNC Greensboro on Thursday, Jan. 29 at Belk Arena. The SoCon matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson improved to 4-8 and 1-1 in the SoCon with the 23-12 victory over VMI. The home match was kicked off with the Wildcats jumping out to an early 13-3 lead after four weight classes, capped by freshman Tyler Mullen's pin just 1:28 into the match. After VMI cut the lead to 17-12, junior Ben Altman scored five unanswered points on his way to a dramatic 8-6 overtime victory at 125. Altman, who was down 6-3 early in the match, scored a two-point takedown 20 seconds into the extra period for the win. Alex Radsky then clinched the team victory with his 4-2 decision at 133, giving Davidson the final 23-12 advantage. The 'Cats are led by sophomore Vitaly Radsky, who sports an 12-7 overall record and has earned a team-high 28 dual meet points. Radsky, who was named SoCon Wrestler of the Week earlier this year, had a nine-match winning streak and has been victorious in 10 of his last 12 matches. Altman leads the squad with 15 wins overall, and has earned 23 points in 12 dual matches.

Scouting the Spartans:
After dropping a 28-18 decision to Chattanooga on Sunday afternoon, UNCG fell to 2-10 overall and 2-1 in the SoCon, one half-game ahead of Davidson in the league standings. The were defeated in all nine non-conference matches to start the year, and picked up their SoCon wins over Appalachian State on Jan. 11 and VMI on Jan. 14. They return seven starters from last season's 9-9 squad, and have 11 newcomers on the roster. This year, the Spartans are led by redshirt senior Chris Bencivenga, who has recorded a 23-9 record at 141, including 9-3 in dual matches.  Sophomore Mikal McKee has a 25-11 mark at 184 this year, with two pins and nine major decisions.

The Series:
This will be the 15th meeting all-time between the Wildcats and Spartans, and the 11th time that the two teams have faced off at Davidson. Last season, UNCG picked up a 30-9 victory in Greensboro.

Up Next: The Wildcats will wrap up a three-match home stand when they open the month of February with a SoCon matchup against Appalachian State. The Feb. 3 contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Belk Arena.
