DAVIDSON, N.C. —
Closing out the season with 2-1 overtime win, Davidson earned the chance to open the start of the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at home when they play Furman on Sunday in the first round.

The Matchup
The Wildcats (10-5-3, 8-3-0 SoCon) earned the fourth seed and will host a first-round game as they play Furman (13-6-1, 7-4-0 SoCon) on Sunday, Nov. 2, at Alumni Stadium. Gametime is set for 5 p.m.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
Despite trailing in the all-time series, 7-15-2, the Wildcats have won four of the last six meetings. Their most recent meeting came on Sept. 25 of this season and saw the 'Cats take a 3-2 decision over the Paladins in a road contest. Tied at 2-all, junior Lauren Conner (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) knocked in her fifth career game-winning goal in the early stages of the second period and the Wildcat defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way for the SoCon win. Also scoring in the game was Amanda Flink (Richardson, Texas) and Stephanie Gerow (Houston, Texas).

SoCon Tournament History
The Wildcats are 14-10 in the tournament since 1994, the first year Davidson was a part of the SoCon. During head coach Greg Ashton's five-year tenure, the Wildcats are 4-4 and have advanced to the semifinals three of the past four years.

Smith is fifth in the SoCon with seven assists ... the freshman tandem goalkeepers Christy Carry (Dallas, Texas) and Jessie Baxa (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) have started a combined 16 of the 18 games ...
