DAVIDSON, N.C. — Seeking to finish out its fifth straight season with a winning record at home, Davidson hosts Appalachian State and Western Carolina on Thursday and Sunday, while it will also honor its eight seniors on Sunday.
The Matchup
The Wildcats (7-3-3, 5-1-0 SoCon) will play host to Mountaineers (5-6-2, 1-4-1 SoCon) on Thursday, Oct. 16 for a 7 p.m. game, before then wrapping up its 2008 home schedule with a Senior Day game against the visIting Catamounts (8-6-0, 5-1-0 SoCon) on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.
The All-Time Series
The Wildcats have captured 17 wins in the 20-game series against Appalachian State (17-1-2). They have also controlled the all-time series vs. the Catamounts with a 7-2-1 all-time mark.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson finished off a 1-1 week with a season-high seven goals in a 7-0 win over The Citadel last Sunday... the win kept Davidson's all-time series mark vs. the Bulldogs perfect at 8-0-0 ... the trio of Kyri Bye-Nagel, Blakely Low and Suzanne Sittko each scored twice in the win ... Bye-Nagel's two scores marked the second time in the past three contests she has had a multi-goal game ... the shutout win gave the Davidson defense five on the season ... picking up one of the four assists on Sunday was senior Mel Smith, who has a team-best six on the year and ranks third in the Southern Conference in that category ... Appalachian State dropped a 2-0 contest to league-leader UNC Greensboro on Sunday in Boone, N.C. ... ASU is just 1-3-1 in its last five games, playing three of those contests at home ... Caroline Lowe paces the Mountaineer attack with three goals and a team-best four assists for 10 points ... Casey Cleary has a team-high four goals, after netting nine last year ... coming off a 10-6-3 season, ASU returned 16 of its 25 letterwinners, including nine starters ... goalkeeper Caroline Clarke has played and started in all 13 games, recording a 0.92 goals against average ... her GAA of 0.92 is fifth-best in the SoCon ... despite having scored just 12 goals on the year, the Mountaineers defense has held the opposition to 12 goals in 13 games ...
