Malissa is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. She earned her bachelor's degree in sport management and master's degree in coaching education in 2023 from Old Dominion in 2022 where she also served as a member of the lacrosse team. While at Old Dominion she served an intern in the strength department during the summer of 2021 and during the 2022-23 academic year.
Additionally, Malissa was an intern at Drexel Univeristy in the strength office during the summer of 2022.
