Air Force Holds Off Wildcats, 4-2

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – The doubles point proved to be the difference as Air Force edged Davidson, 4-2, in non-conference women's tennis action inside Cadet East Gym Thursday afternoon.
The setback drops the Wildcats to 5-4 overall, while the Falcons improve to 3-9.
"I'm happy with the way we competed today," said Davidson head coach Susanne Depka. "Air Force did a lot of things very well and were forceful in doubles. We handled the conditions well with high altitude and faster conditions being inside. We need to continue to grow mentally and problem solve when we have nerves or areas of our game are not working as well. Each player has the tools to compete and win against these teams, and each time we put ourselves in positions to succeed we will find ourselves with the outcome we want."
Davidson, which trailed 2-0, cut the team deficit to one on separate occasions with straight-set singles victories from Bryson Langford (6-4, 6-2) and Ellie Hammond (7-5, 6-2) on courts two and three, respectively.
After the Wildcats closed to within 3-2, Nadia Koionroi secured the dual for Air Force with a 6-1, 6-4 win at the final singles spot.
Davidson freshman Keri Rothenberg was up a set when the match was decided.
