Wildcats Conclude Road Schedule at Fordham

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team begins their final week of the regular season with a trip to the Bronx to face Fordham Wednesday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Four Wildcats saw double-digit scoring games, led by Katie Donovan's 18-point performance, as the Davidson women's basketball team defeated Dayton, 79-67, Saturday afternoon.
The 'Cats improved to 18-11 and 10-6 in league action, reaching the 18-win threshold for the third consecutive season for the first time in program history.
Donovan led the way for the Wildcats, shooting 6-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-4 from three. She was complimented by Kyra Bruyndoncx's 15 points, Charlise Dunn's 13 points and 10 points from Edina Strausz. Dunn led the team with seven rebounds, while hitting two threes.
For the second game in-a-row, the Wildcats had 10 players record a field goal.
In addition, Davidson handed out 16 assists on 30 made field goals.
SERIES HISTORY
The Wildcats hold a 8-14 record against the Rams in the all-time series and defeated them earlier this year in Belk Arena,74-50. The 'Cats have now won three straight games against Fordham with their 24-point win earlier this season being the largest margin of victory in the all-time series.
Edina Strausz matched her career-high with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting to lead Davidson to victory in January.
The Wildcats shot 47.5 percent and finished with a 40-26 advantage on the glass while handing out 18 assists on 28 made field goals.
Charlise Dunn and Ines Garcia Monje also scored in double figures for the Wildcats with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
HOME STRETCH
With only two games remaining on the schedule, the Wildcats are locked in a seeding battle with Saint Joseph's for the final double bye slot in the in upcoming Atlantic 10 tournament.
Both team's sit at 10-6 in league action, with Saint Joe's holding the tiebreaker based on common opponent currently. In the final week of the season, the Hawks play at two of the top teams in the league, George Mason and Richmond while the Wildcats play Fordham and Saint Louis.
Two wins from the Wildcats and a loss from Saint Joseph's would secure the fourth seed and double bye in the conference tournament.
MILESTONE WATCH
Head coach Gayle Fulks, in her ninth season at the helm of the Davidson women's basketball program, sits four wins away from becoming the program's all-time wins leader. Former head coach Annette Watts holds the title currently with a record of 144-121 while Fulks sits at 141-126.
Fulks has led the program to its third straight 18-win season, marking the first time in school history that the team has reached 18 or more victories in three consecutive years.
STIFLING DEFENSE
The hallmark of the Wildcats this season has been their defense, ranking among the best in the A-10 with a scoring defense of 58.3. In games where the Wildcats hold their opponents to less than 40 percent from the field, they have an 10-1 record. They are also 11-0 when they hold their opponent to 55 points or less and are 13-4 when recording 10 or more steals.
The 'Cats have three players on the team that average more than a steal per game with Dunn leading the team with 1.8 steals per game. Donovan averages 1.5 steals per game and Ines Garcia sits at 1.2 per game. Dunn also leads the team with 0.8 blocks per game and 6.0 defensive rebounds per game.
