DAVIDSON, N.C. – After dropping its first match of the 2026 spring campaign yesterday, Davidson bounced back with an impressive 4-1 victory over Coastal Carolina on Sunday inside the Knobloch Tennis Center.
The Wildcats improve to 4-1 overall, while the Chanticleers fall to 3-2.
"This was a great win for us," commented Davidson head coach Susanne Depka. "Coastal Carolina is a very good team. I believe yesterday's match helped us prepare for our match today."
For the fourth time in five matches, Davidson grabbed the early team advantage by capturing the doubles points, which was clinched with a come-from-behind win on court one from the duo of Savanna Kollock and Bryson Langford, 7-5.
"We had a great mindset throughout the match and were able to pull out some tough wins today. I'm super proud of everyone for continuing to work hard on all we are doing in practice and transferring it to matches," Depka said.
Charlotte Calderwood and Ellie Hammond also picked up a doubles victory with a convincing 6-1 decision at the No. 2 spot.
With the 'Cats clinging to a 3-1 lead following singles wins from Hammond (6-3, 6-0) and Langford (6-3, 6-4) on courts three and two, respectively, Calderwood rallied from a set down to defeat Francisca Laundes, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, to clinch the match.
"The more we have courage to execute it and try it in matches under pressure, the easier it will become. We continue to grow and improve in each match, which is our true goal."
