DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson continued its impressive start to the 2026 spring campaign with a 7-0 blanking of Presbyterian in non-conference women's tennis action Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats improve to 5-1 overall, matching their best start since the 2016-17 season. The setback drops the Blue Hose to 4-5.
"Today was a great day for the Wildcats," head coach Susanne Depka said. "PC is a solid team and tough fighters. We had to make sure we were doing everything within our control really well today and we did just that."
Playing outside on their home courts for this first time this spring, the Wildcats battled their way to claiming the doubles point with Olivia Hooper and Keri Rothenberg rallying for a 6-4 win at the final spot.
The duo of Charlotte Calderwood and Ellie Hammond helped secure the point with a 6-3 victory at the No. 2 position.
"It was tough conditions for most of the day and the team was extremely solid mentally. Even with the wind and being outside they went for their shots and took control of the matches. They competed so well today, and I believe this match only made what we are doing in practices and focusing on all the processes so much more worth it!"
After a win by forfeit at the final singles position extended the lead to 2-0, Davidson got straight-set wins from Rothenberg (6-1, 6-4) and Hammond (6-3, 6-4) on courts five and three, respectively, to clinch the match.
Bryson Langford (6-4, 6-4) and Savanna Kollock (7-5, 7-6) followed with straight-set victories of their own, while Calderwood (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) battled back from a one-set deficit to secure the sweep.
