Wildcats Clash with Richmond on the Road

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team travels to Richmond for a high stakes Atlantic 10 battle Saturday evening at the Robins Center.

Davidson used a 20-3 second-half run to grab control and remain unbeaten in Atlantic 10 Conference play with a 48-36 win over Saint Joseph's Wednesday evening inside Belk Arena.
Despite both teams shooting below 30 percent in the opening half, Davidson held the Hawks to just one field goal in the second quarter while carrying a 19-12 lead into the break.
After Saint Joseph's (11-4, 2-2 A-10) started the third with seven straight points to even the score, 19-19, the Wildcats responded with their game-changing streak to take control and put the game out of reach.
Davidson would push the lead to as many as 17 on multiple occasions.
Charlise Dunn recorded her sixth double-double of 2025-26 with 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead the way for the Wildcats. Kyra Bruyndoncx also scored 10 points.
SERIES HISTORY
The Wildcats hold a 5-10 record against the Spiders in the all-time series, taking losses in both games in the 2024-25 season. The 'Cats are 3-4 in the Robins Center with their last win coming in the 2021-22 season, a 77-71 win on the road.
They suffered 63-41 defeat at home and a 59-46 road loss in Richmond last season.
Preseason favorites in the A-10, the Spiders enter the contest 13-4 and 3-1 in league action. They are led by preseason player of the year, Maggie Doogan, who is averaging 22.8 points per game to go along with 8.5 rebounds per game.
STIFLING DEFENSE
The 'Cat most recent victory over Saint Joseph's tied the fewest allowed points for Davidson over an A-10 opponent since joining the league in the 2014-15 season, holing the Hawks to 36 points. They had previously held Dayton to 36 points in last year's quarterfinal round of the A-10 tournament.
In games where the Wildcats hold their opponents to less than 40 percent from the field they have an 8-0 record. They are also 9-0 when they hold their opponent to 55 points or less and are 9-3 when recording 10 or more steals.
The team ranks third in the A-10 in scoring defense, limiting opposing offenses to 57.3 points per game.
BATTLE OF THE SHOOTERS
Coming into Saturday's match up Davidson leads the league in three-point percentage, shooting 36.1 percent from beyond the arc. They are followed closely by Richmond, who ranks second with a 35.7 three-point percentage and lead the league with 10.4 made three per game.
The Wildcats also have a slight edge in three-point defense, holding opponents to 29.4 percent while the Spiders allow a 30.2 percentage from deep.
