Richmond Outlasts Davidson in Triple-Overtime Thriller

RICHMOND, Va. – Maggie Doogan recorded an NCAA women's basketball season-high 48 points and 13 rebounds, willing Richmond to a 91-84 triple-overtime victory over Davidson Saturday night inside the Robins Center.
The Wildcats moved to 12-6 with their first setback in conference play (4-1), while the Spiders improved to 14-4 and 4-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
Three Wildcats recorded 20-point scoring nights, highlighted by Katie Donovan, who scored 27 points on 7-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc. Donovan's shooting kept the Wildcats in the game down the stretch, with two of her threes tying the game in the fourth quarter and the first overtime.
Charlise Dunn and Kyra Bruyndoncx complemented Donovan's night by scoring 21 and 20 points, respectively. Dunn went 6-of-12 from the field and pulled down 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season. Bruyndoncx shot 9-of-15 and led the team with nine points in the first half.
Ines Garcia also set a new career-high with eight assists.
The 'Cats carried a 30-21 lead into the break after outscoring the Spiders 17-8 in the second quarter. Richmond clawed back into the game in the third, outscoring the 'Cats 22-12 while shooting 53.8 percent to take a one-point lead.
The two squads went blow-for-blow in the fourth quarter and overtime, but the deciding factor was Doogan, who scored 28 points in the fourth quarter and extra sessions.
