‘Cats Face Top Ranked Rhode Island on the Road

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team wraps up its two-game road swing with a trip to Rhode Island Wednesday evening.

Davidson used a 38-26 rebounding advantage and went 11-of-11 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal a 62-58 victory over La Salle Sunday afternoon inside Glaser Arena.
The Wildcats improved to 6-1 in Atlantic 10 play and 14-6 on the season.
Katie Donovan led the 'Cats with 13 points, shooting 4-of-6 form the field with a season-high six rebounds. Kyra Bruyndoncx also tallied double figures with an 11-point, five rebound performance.
Four Wildcats recorded more than five rebounds to earn the plus-12 advantage on the glass.
SERIES HISTORY
The Rams hold a slight edge in the all-time series against Davidson, leading 8-7. The 'Cats took a 65-55 home victory over Rhode Island last season with Issy Morgan scoring a game high 19 points.
Kyra Bruyndoncx joined Morgan double figures with 10 points for the 'Cats, who torched the nets from long range, going 8-for-16 from beyond the arc.
The Rams lead the A-10 with a 16-2 overall record and reaming unbeaten in league action with a 7-0 ledger. Rhode Island is also riding a 10-game winning streak.
DEFENSIVE BATTLE
Wednesday's contest will be battle between two of the best defensive teams in the Atlantic 10. Rhode Island enters the game holding teams to an average of 53.4 points per game while Davidson follows close behind with a scoring defense of 58.6. The 'Cats also rank third in the conference in steals, averaging 10.3 per game.
The two programs also boast some of the best defensive players in the conference. Davidson's Charlise Dunn ranks among the leaders in blocks (0.9) and steals (2.0) per game, while Palmire Mbu blocks 1.7 shots per game and Sophia Vital averages 1.9 steals for the Rams.

Katie Donovan powered the Wildcats to victory at La Salle with her consistent shooting from the field and at the free throw line. She went 4-for-6 from the floor, 4-for-6 from the line, and made her only three-point attempt of the game.
On the season, Donovan is averaging 11.2 points per game on .462 percent shooting and 83.0 percent from the charity stripe. She leads the nation in three-point percentage, shooting a 48.2 clip from beyond the arc.
