DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson fell to Georgetown 51-14 to open the 2025 football season Saturday afternoon inside Davidson College Stadium.
 
The Hoyas, who opened the game with a 69-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage, recorded 583 yards of total offense, including 282 on the ground.
 
Georgetown running back Savion Hart was the catalyst. He added a 27-yard touchdown run to his 69-yard score and also scored on a 73-yard pass play — all in the first quarter — while totaling 201 yards of offense.  
 
Davidson got on the board with 1:11 left in the first quarter when Coulter Cleland connected with Brody Reina on a 55-yard touchdown pass, which Reina secured after two deflections. Cleland ran to paydirt from 12 yards out just before the half, cutting the Hoyas lead to 38-14 at the break.  
 
Cleland finished the day 12-of-17 passing for 128 yards to go along with the two scores and a team-best 57 rushing yards.
 
Defensively, Tre Johnson led the 'Cats with six tackles.
 
Up Next
Davidson will play its next two on the road beginning with a 6 p.m. kickoff at Elon next Saturday.
