DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's tennis team takes just its third loss of the season, falling 6-1 to VCU at home Saturday.

The loss makes the Wildcats overall record 8-3 while its Atlantic 10 mark becomes 0-2.

"We could have been more consistent with our goals and processes during the match," said head coach Susanne Depka. "VCU did better than us in many areas. We did well at times today but not long or consistent enough to come away with the win. If the team takes away a lot of lessons from today and uses this match as motivation to continue to work hard and become more hungry, today's match and others moving forward will turn in their favor. I believe in this team and know what they are capable of accomplishing."

The 'Cats fought hard over the entirety of the match starting with doubles where the Rams earned wins on courts two and three via 6-3 and 7-5 respectively. Kavya Patel and Daniela Porges were left in the head of competition on court one at 6-6 and 1-2 in the tiebreak before the match went unfinished.

Patel went on to win Davidson's lone team point dealing her opponent a 6-2, 6-2 loss on court one.

However, VCU responded winning the final five matches despite three of the five extending into a third set.
