Wildcats Open Conference Play Against Duquesne

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball is set to open Atlantic 10 play at home against Duquesne at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Charlise Dunn stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and Davidson used a lengthy third-quarter run to defeat Ohio, 64-59 Sunday afternoon from inside John M. Belk Arena.
Despite shooting just 31.6 percent from the floor, the Wildcats went 20-of-23 from the charity stripe and finished with a commanding 46-26 advantage on the glass.
Katie Donovan and Kyra Bruyndoncx also scored in double figures for the Wildcats with 16 and 15 points, respectively. This is the first time this season, three players have recorded more than 15 point each and the sixth time three or more players have tallied more that 10 points in a single game.
SERIES HISTORY
The Dukes and Wildcats have squared off 13 times previously. Duquesne holds a 7-6 edge in the all-time series.
Last season, the two teams opened A-10 play in Pittsburgh on Dec. 29, 2024, with Davidson coming away with the 76-70 road victory. Katie Donovan and Charlise Dunn each put career performances in the win. Donovan went for a career-high 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting while Dunn added a 21-point, 16 rebound double-double. Candice Lienafa came off the bench to score 12 points for the 'Cats, who finished with a 41-28 rebounding margin.
Since Gayle Fulks assumed head coaching duties for the Wildcats in the 2017-18 season, the Wildcats have 5-2 record over the Dukes and have won five of the past six games against Duquesne.

Atlantic 10 women's basketball beings for all 14 member institutions on Wednesday before resuming right before the start before the new calendar year. Davidson enters with a 5-3 record with all-three losses coming against power conference opponents. The 'Cats ranked second in the A-10 in NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool) ranking, sitting at No. 46 out of 363 schools in Division I. Outside of the power four conferences, the Atlantic 10 has the most teams ranked within the top 80 of the NET rankings.
Through eight games, Davidson is averaging 69.4 points per game while holding opponents to 59.1 points for a scoring margin of 10.3. They are shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc, and hold a plus-3.88 turnover margin. They rank top three in the conference in free-throw percentage (73.9 percent), scoring defense (59.1), three pointers per game (7.1) and turnovers per game (13.8).
Preseason first team and all-defensive pick, Charlise Dunn, has been leading the way for the Wildcats, leading the team in points per game (17.6), rebounds per game (7.6), blocks (1.1) and steals (1.8). Donovan is not far behind, scoring 9.8 points per game on 43.8 percent shooting from the field. Bruyndoncx leads the conference in three-point shooting percentage at 47.1 percent from beyond the arc through eight games this season.
