‘Cats Return to Belk Arena to Face Ohio

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's basketball team looks to get back to the win column with a Sunday matinee against Ohio University.

WBCA SHOWCASE RECAP
Before the Thanksgiving break, the Wildcats traveled to Orlando, Fla. to face off against power conference opponents Miami and No. 7 Baylor at the WBCA Showcase. The 'Cats went 0-2 at the event but performed favorably in each game against quality opponents.
In game one against Miami, the 'Cats fell 66-58 after hot shooting second half from the Hurricanes. Charlise Dunn led the way for the Wildcats, scoring 14 points on 6-for-17 shooting, including five rebounds and two steals. Ines Garcia Monje notched the second double-digit scoring night of her young career with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Davidson got off to a solid start, leading the Hurricanes 17-10 after the first quarter and connecting on 44.4 percent of its shots and forcing six turnovers.
On Saturday, the Wildcats pushed top 10 Baylor to the brink, forcing overtime against the Bears with a clutch three-pointer with four seconds left from Dunn. Dunn was exceptional, posting a career-high 33 points on 10-for-20 from the field, 3-of-10 from beyond the arc, and 10-for-11 from the free-throw line. She was supported by her Australian counterpart, Katie Donovan, who added 15 points on 5-for-14 from the field and 5-for-7 from the stripe, including 13 in the first half.
The Bears were able to escape with a clutch shot from Yuting Deng, who made a driving layup in overtime to take the 74-72 lead and seal the game for Baylor.
Series History
This will be the first time the Bobcats and Wildcats face off in a women's basketball game. The Bobcats come to Belk Arena with a 3-2 record, most recently defeating Wright State 80-66 last Monday.
GETTING IT DUNN
The lone senior on the Davidson squad, Charlise Dunn has lived up to role as team leader so far this season. At the WBCA, Dunn averaged 23.5 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 43.2 percent from the floor. Dunn also came through in the clutch against Baylor, sending it to overtime with her last second three, hitting three free-throws in overtime to keep the game tied and scoring 18 of the Wildcats 30 points in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Through seven games, Dunn ranks fifth in the A-10 in scoring at 17.5 ppg, sixth in rebounding at 7.0 per game and has the third highest scoring night in the league this season with 33 points against Baylor.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
The Wildcats rank second in the Atlantic 10 and 41st nationally in turnovers per game, only turning the ball over 13.3 times per game. Conversely, the 'Cats force 17.6 turnovers per game and rank third in scoring defense in the A-10, holding opponents to 59.1 points per game.
Ines Garcia Monje, ranks third in the conference as a freshman with a 2.33 assist to turnover ratio. She leads the team with 3.0 assist per game.
Kyra Bruyndoncx continues to be one of the league leaders in three-point percentage, shooting 54.5 percent from beyond the arc through seven games this season.
