'Cats and Fordham Battle to 1-1 Draw

DAVIDSON - The Davidson women's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the No. 2 team in the Atlantic 10, Fordham, Sunday inside Alumni Stadium.
The tie makes the Wildcats record 6-5-3 overall and 2-3-1 in conference competition. Davidson's record in Alumni Stadium becomes 4-1-3 with the 'Cats not having dropped a home game since Sept. 19 in a close 1-0 loss to VCU.
Dakota Lyons was the difference maker on offense for the Wildcats as she scored a 25th minute goal to give Davidson an early lead. The goal marks the fourth for the junior in her debut season with the 'Cats, putting her second on the team.
In the second half, the Rams were able to pull even with Davidson on a quick strike by Liina Tervo in the 70th minute.
Defense was the name of the game for the remainder of the contest as Emily Smith for Davidson and Addison Green of Fordham tallied 15 total saves, including seven for the hometown keeper Smith. A notable save came in the 74th minute when the Rams were awarded a penalty kick that Smith was able to track and deflect.
Kialie Hudson in her third start of the season was seconds away from being the difference maker with a powerful shot in the 88th that Green was fortunate enough to get a glove on, en route to a 1-1 draw.
Hudson took four shots on the day, three on target while Lyons placed both of her shots on goal.

Davidson will continue to power through the final three weeks of the regular season, traveling next to Loyola Chicago Oct. 13 for a 2 p.m. (EST) kick off.
