
Five 'Cats Score in Double Figures While Coach Fulks Picks up 100th Win in 72-42 Victory over UMass

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Mallorie Haines led five double-digit scorers as the Davidson women's basketball team rolled past UMass 72-42 Wednesday night in Belk Arena.
With the win, the 100th of coach Gayle Fulks' career, the Wildcats improved to 14-5 overall and 4-4 in the Atlantic 10, while UMass fell to 3-17 and 1-7.
Haines scored a game-high 15 points to lead the way, while Charlise Dunn added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Maddie Plank narrowly missed a double-double of her own with 14 points and nine boards to go with a game-high five assists, while Issy Morgan and Katie Donovan scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Millie Prior had four blocks to go with eight points and six boards.
Davidson hit 48 percent of its shots (24-of-50), while holding UMass to just 30.8 percent (16-of-52) and to just eight points in the first, third and fourth quarters. Led by Plank's 7-of-7 performance, the Wildcats shot 81.8 percent at the stripe (18-of-22) and dominated the boards 43-22.
Davidson led by as many as 11 in the first quarter, then endured an even second quarter to lead 35-26 at the half following a Donovan three just before the horn.
After UMass scored the first two buckets of the second half and pulled within five points, the Wildcats got separation with a 27-6 run to push their lead to 62-36 with 6:11 to play.
Kristin Williams was the lone Minutewoman to score in double figures, finishing with 13 points.
