‘Cats Kick Off Fall Season at Emily McNail Classic

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson College women's tennis team will compete in their first competition of the 2023 fall season over the weekend in a two-day invitational hosted by UNC Asheville.
 
The Wildcats will compete against the host UNC Asheville as well as Wofford and Queens.
 
Davidson's invitational format will be:
 
SATURDAY
10am - Wofford vs. Davidson doubles
10:45am - UNCA vs. Davidson doubles
2:30pm - Davidson vs. Queens singles
 
SUNDAY
9am - Queens vs. Davidson doubles
Noon - Davidson vs. Wofford singles
4pm - UNCA vs. Davidson singles
 
WILDCATS ROSTER
Seniors
Emma Heiderscheit - CSC Academic All-District. Played 15 singles matches in the No. 1 or No. 2 spots. Secured seven doubles wins on the year. Defeated Presbyterian then rattled off five straight wins over UNCG, Lees-McRae, No. 47 Georgia Southern, Elon, and Rhode Island.
 
Juniors
Daniela Porges - Finished the year with a 7-11 singles record. Played 12 of her 18 matches in the No. 3 spot. Went undefeated in singles at the A-10 Tournament with wins over Dayton and UMass. Ended with a 10-7 record in doubles play with seven wins in the No. 1 spot paired with Kavya Patel in all 17 matches.  Went 7-6 in the top doubles spot.
 
Linden Patterson - Played in five singles matches and finished with a 3-2 record. Went 2-1 in doubles action. Came out victorious against WVSU, Lees-McRae, and Gardner-Webb. Doubles wins came when paired with Kavya Patel and Savanna Kollock against WVSU and Lees-McRae. 
 
Kavya Patel - CSC Academic All-District. Finished second on the team in singles wins after earning a 9-9 record. Ended the season with a 4-2 mark in the A-10. Ended the year on a four-match win streak including a pair of wins at the A-10 Tournament. Secured a straight-set win over Dayton in the opening round of the A-10 Tournament. Was tied for the team lead in doubles wins with 11. Ended the season with an 11-7 doubles record with six of those coming in the No. 1 pairing.
 
Sophomores
Savanna Kollock Led the team with 11 singles wins and was tied for the team lead with ten doubles victories. Competed in the No. 4, 5, and 6 spots with most coming at No. 5. Ended the season with an 12-5 record in singles play. Was 4-1 in A-10 action. Finished the season by winning nine of her last 11 singles matches. Finished with an 11-5 doubles record. Paired with Josie Schaffer for 15 of her 16 doubles matches. Went 9-1 in the No. 3 doubles spot and finished with a 3-1 conference record.
 
Olivia Hooper – Did not compete in the 2022 season.
 
Freshmen
The Wildcats welcome five new faces to this year's roster in Charlotte Calderwood, Bryson Langford, Kailey Patel, Alex Rodehorst and Ines Roti who will look to make their collegiate debuts.
 
UP NEXT
Following opening weekend of the fall, the 'Cats will travel to Statesboro, Ga. For the Georgia Southern Shootout from Oct. 13-15.
