'Cats Close Out Regular Season With 4-1 Win

RICHMOND, Va. -- Bouncing back from Friday's result, the Davidson men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 4-1 win over Dayton on Saturday afternoon.
"It was a great win for the guys," said head coach Drew Barrett. "We lost in a nail biter to Richmond on Friday and it was great to see them respond so well. Dayton was the preseason number two team and our guys showed up in a big way."
With the win, Davidson improves to 7-10 on the regular season with a 3-1 record against Atlantic 10 opponents.
Junior Maxwell Kachkarov led the 'Cats, with his partner Juan Camilo Perez Gongora, with a 6-2 doubles victory at No. 1, while Luca Lovrich and Jerry Wang produced a 6-2 win on court three to secure the doubles point.
Kachkarov carried his momentum onto the singles court, winning a 6-1, 6-2 decision at court three, in addition to a three-set, No. 2 win from William Clark and a 6-2, 6-4 victory from Wang to seal the match win.
